I am SO PROUD of how the dress came out, the shading on her belly! OH my gosh! Look at this beautiful girl!!
There's a short story that Dan wrote to go along with this picture!
Written by DHLawrence1985 :
Toccata did not mind the dubious looks from her friends, or the predictable dumb jokes from her cousins. To her, they were water off a duck’s back. Nothing could ruin this day for her.
It had been so many years since she and her groom had met, enough years that his youngest daughter was her Maid of Honour and his son was his Best Man. Both of them beamed at her as she walked across the lawn of her family’s ranch to the flower-strung rows of chairs. His eldest daughter sat towards the front with her mother and stepmother, themselves only weeks past their wedding. Where their faces were warm supportive, however, Vicky’s maxed out at respectfully noncommittal. The young beagle’s reservations were no secret, but Toca was nothing but understanding. It would take time for her new stepdaughter to come around, and she was willing to wait.
Even that, however, could not dampen the merle’s mood. Not when the tomcat she was minutes from pledging her love and life to was waiting there next to the justice of the peace, his eyes only on her. She could not help but see the many threads of grey in his hair, or the muzzle fur that was just a little paler than it had been that fateful summer so long ago, but in her eyes he was just as handsome as ever.
She felt the multitude of eyes on her as she walked down the aisle. Gazing at her hair, her dress, her bouquet. Inevitably, they strayed past the high waist of her dress to the other reason for her cousins’ jokes. To say it was a planned pregnancy would be a stretch, but when that special mood hit, all thoughts of what “should” be done went out the window. Neither of them regretted it in the slightest; Toca was almost smug about it. Besides, it had taken an eternity of feelings and false starts to get where they were; they had waited long enough.
Usually the wedding comes before the conception, but Dan and Toca didn't feel like waiting. Been exploring this as a future outcome for the two with Toca's co-owner Dan. Heck of a start to Mayternity!
