“We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.” - Ernest Hemingway
Be sure to place the link for your completed story in the comments section of this post so we can find it. If you are late in posting, placed the link in both the comments section of the prompt, and the comments section of the current prompt, but please tag it as a late comer.
You might consider making your own TP icon to announce your story as such. Readers watch for this and will respond.
If you do choose to participate in the Thursday Prompt remember it is good form to read your fellow participants. If you wish to give a critique, ask if the writer wishes one and then send it along in a private note.
Always remember; we are all writers together.
This week’s prompt: Introduce yourself. (see below)
So... the Thursday Prompt has many watchers. Normally we have had an average of about three to six writers posting something based upon the prompt. Today will be a little different.
I want to lure out the shy and the bashful. I want to pull in those of us who have no time, are suffering writer's block - or - frustration that the words won't come.
Fish school together, other animals flock, and still others run in packs. Writers need other writers. Other writers are the only other people who will understand you.
This prompt simply asks you to post an introduction of yourself. A good title would be: I am a writer. This should be no more than five sentences. At least that's the guideline. You do not have to go into details. Be sure to place the link for your completed intro in the comments section of this post so we can find it.
Look through the postings and smile. You are not alone. Then begin introducing yourselves to each other. A warm shake of the paw is always welcome.
Now then, just as a personal note, it's best not to press others to read your works. In my case, as an example, I am usually busy writing. I also read - real real real slow. That's the way my brain works - go figure. Time and life are always the limiting factors. I always do my best to read all of the prompts posted.
This part is what the Thursday Prompt is all about - practicing your craft, and being read.
In general, Prompts should be kept to five pages for readability. This is just a suggestion because sometimes stories go long of their own nature. On the other paw, one of my favorites is the 365 word challenge. The idea of posting is that the writers should read each other. - think about this; it is the polite thing to do.
You will also begin to understand that to be read, you have to please your reader. Posting junk (and that's the nicest word I could think of) will get you nowhere.
The Beatles spelled it out - And in the end, the love you take will equal the love you make.

Hmm. What's the collective noun for writers, anyway? A scribble, perhaps?

^_^ It's fine. Block was a joke of an idea, anyway (though one I still think works).
A few other ideas my friends and I came up with:
An edition of writers
An issue of writers
A storm of writers
And finally, the one that's more serious: A collective of writers.

First time I've actually been able to post something here.

A word of warning: My material is... extreme and dark. Thus why I don't tend to share it here.
...So tread with caution.
But to those who are also into the dark and twisted... you are not alone here.
And please be nice to my audience. They are nice to me.

I started off strong, but the prompt kinda fell away after the first three words LOL

For the first time in ever, my entry is shorter than expected.

Well, I'm new to this page. Might as well drop my introduction.

Warning: My page has some extreme kinks of all variety, from scat to snuff, so... update your blacklist or keep a watchful eye out for my stuff.

This was hard to do. I wanted to post interesting things about myself, but I still want to keep some mystery from people on here.

I've written two prompts and missed the deadline both times. Hopefully I'll be able to upload them at some point even if late! But I suppose if nothing else this is a good start.

Had an itch only The Prompt can soothe so I thought I’d pop in and take a look. I’ll post this week’s here since it’s meant as an introduction and not really a story. So I…
…am noticing time seeming to go by faster, at least that’s my explanation for having so little of the free stuff left-
…would like to get back into the habit of writing again, but see above-
…noticing that my humor is getting drier to the point of cracking and pealing away exposing, something of me-
…mostly gotten over the uncomfortable nature of exposing those small little parts of myself that go into every one of my characters, maybe that’s why writing can be so addictive-
…know I should come around more often, but, again, because of the first-
…and as a bonus, I think if you’re going to describe a group of writers it should be called an Asylum.

Ah, I gave in. Writer's block is kicking my ass, so this is a good little shake-up.

Cutting it a little close, but I was debating all week. But "I AM HERE!" now.

*smiles in embarrassment* Terribly late with this. But better later than never, I guess.
