Old plaster of Paris mask I made a few years back. Just figured I'd upload it now since it's Halloween and I was thinking about it.
The only function it holds now days is adorning the trim above my bedroom door.
On the front mouth is the seal of the Necronomicon's Eighth Name NAMTILLAKU; A most secret and potent Lore, he hath knowledge to raise the dead and converse with the spirits of the Abyss, unbeknownst to their Queen. No soul passes into Death but that he is aware. His Word is BANUTUKUKUTUKKU.
On the inner mouth is the Kabbalah symbol of Aleph, the first Hebrew letter. It's the only letter that makes no sound of its own in a word --- and yet from it arises the entire alphabet of sounds and infinite meanings. The sages regard Aleph as signifying that everything each of us accomplishes, however important in daily life, first emanates from stillness and silence.
The inner forhead, left to right (again Hewbrew), beit and gimel.
Beit signifies the number two and duality. We constantly see around us apparent dichotomies like day and night, high and low, fullness and emptiness, spiritual and mundane. But all such polarities are ultimately illusory within the light of the Eternal Unity. As the Zohar aptly teaches, "The difference by means of which light is distinguishable from darkness is by degree only; both are on in kind, and there is no light without darkness and no darkness without light.
Gimel also represent stead growth, the process by which any initial spark of creativity must be rightly guided until glowering into physical reality; thus, it begins the Hebrew words for both great (gadol) and mighty (gibor). To achieve this task when facing indifference or enmity from others, you need the vital spiritual trait of courage (gevurah) --- likewise represented by the third Hebrew letter.
