My first attempt at creating my army guy's replacement for my comic. He's a Jackal in his mid-twenties. I don't know if I'm gonna use him yet though, : /
I'm taking name suggestions btw.

Race is normally used as a human classification to define a human within the Homo genus, using race to say which species it is would only be defendable if you had also put the what family it is from, which would be Canidae. So it would have made more sense to put species on it instead of race
You sir have a very valid point. But likewise to say that a furry is not human is to say that he is not an animal, considering that he is a mixture of both that only exists in our imaginations.
Therefore, to say 'Species' would in turn be exactly the same as saying 'Race' would it not?

Not really, saying race would imply you are talking about one specific family like humans are in the Hominidae family just like most canines are in the Canidae family. So in saying race would mean we don't classify types of humans as species of human, as they are all more or less all the same genetic wise whereas a Grey Wolf and a Black Wolf would be two races of Canis Lupus. Whereas a Red Wolf isn't a race involved with Canis Lupus as it is a different species of Canis Rufus. So those where two different races of wolves from different species and getting any deeper into it would be going into sub species which would get more complicated.
So in short there are too many different races of canines to be able to use the term "race" to best effect, its just easier to stick with saying "species"
