As a Mexican, I can safely say... we don't care if others wear ponchos or sombreros in Cinco de Mayo. We only see it as a day off, even if it's mostly to honor our fight against the French in Puebla back in Benito Juarez's time as president when France wanted to take control of the country. The fact that a bunch of foreigners who live comfy lives try to be offended for us about our culture just baffles me.
Yeah, Mexicans could care less about cultural appropriation. I won't say who is, but they are usually people who are perennially offended at everything.
