I remember doing stuff like this when I was little. It was way easier for special events, like Christmas or New Year, where there would be unhealthy things out for guests to enjoy in the hours up to dinner. Definitely didn't help my view on the matter, when my dad would sneakily have some unhealthy bits before dinner when mom wasn't looking, heh.

I always considered that Parental Rule to be more of a 'Challenge'?!

You know, some individuals believe that the rule of having to finish your dinner expedites obesity.

However, I failed the test questions on it, so I don't know much about it.

Related is the quintessential "I wanna cookie!" after refusing to eat dinner with an "I'm not hungry", in a bid to get some better tasting food (honestly, what genius thought that lima beans count as food?). Softer-hearted parents might give in to their child's manipulations, but mine didn't. If I wasn't hungry for dinner, I reaped the consequence: no food until breakfast. Still, the hunger was better than the paddling I would have received had I dared to try to pull the above off.
