And yeah, Dr. Marcoh might also be a friggin' Saint, you know, the Knights of the Zodiac (but the Zodiac actually is only the twelve constellations of the Horoscope, duh) one of the most famous shonen anime in Japan and Romance-speaking Countries that nobody in the English-speaking world knows because it was too bloody for your 90s' censorship.
If you want to take a look at the post on Reddit, click here.
It's also one of the most beloved IPs in the yaoi fandom, because it was so thoroughly incompetent in managing its few female characters, that went full circles and after ten episodes we were left only with dudes expressing their feelings of devoted friendship to each other.
I guess that the very first two fictional characters that I want intensely to see make out as a child were Seiya of Pegasus and Shiryu of Dragon from this anime.
The other thing that made them really fit for yaoi fanfiction was their lean and smooth bodies, something that Dr. Marcoh doesn't share with them. He's not even an actual Saint, because he made by himself his armor, tapping into the divine energy that wasn't the Greek sideral pantheon, but the transdimensional Ouroboros, the snake that constantly eats his tail and regenerates, a metaphor for the cycle of death, rebirth and transformation in Alchemy.
(It's not something unheard of in the Saint Seiya extended canon since in the OG anime there were the Steel Saints, that used technological exoskeleton. Even if they were quickly sidelined since they weren't part of the manga.)
He's bare-chested because only in the anime the armors have the power to generate a unitard on their wearer, and also because in terms of raw power he fits more in the Bronze Saint rank. But his unique perk of deflecting any attack with his Ouroboros Shield can make him a challenge even for a Gold Saint.
The only way to hit him is to attack before he can prepare his defense, and that might be a funny condition in the anime, where the Bronze Saints took a lot of hits from Goldies and still survived.
You know, the rule of shonen drama.
And yeah, still alive, and still working on this Gorilla VS Merbull animation, I can't make promises on when it will be ready, because I'm learning along the way and having the usual life contingencies, but I'm pretty happy with the result so far.
