Okay, so I made a homemade Sloppy Joe's tonight. Uhhh, I didn't measure anything out but I can tell you what's in it haha
Ingredients-
~Sauce:
1 can Hunt's Tomato Sauce
1 can Hunt's Tomato Paste
Teriyaki Sauce
Heinz Ketchup
Brown Sugar
Regular Sugar
Salt
~Meat:
1 pound Hamburger (However, I used deerburger because we have a surplus in my freezer haha)
1/2 to 1 Yellow Onion
Cajun Seasoning
Apple Butter Chop Rub with Brown Sugar (this can be purchased here: https://www.kennysspices.com/collec.....-w-brown-sugar )
Cooking Instructions:
1. Brown hamburger and onion in a medium to large pan. While browning the hamburger add the Cajun and the Apple Butter Chop Rub with Brown Sugar. Drain hamburger and onions.
2. In a medium to large bowl mix Tomato Sauce and Tomato Paste. Make sure you mix the paste in well with the sauce. Once sauce and paste are mixed well, add the Ketchup. Not too much, but not too little...You want that zing. After that is mixed in, add the brown sugar and regular sugar (again, not too much but not too little. You want it a little sweet but not too sweet.) Mix well. Then add some teriyaki sauce and mix well (this adds to the colour and the sweetness a little). And finally, add a pinch to a dash of salt (this takes away some of the sweetness, but leaves the zing).
3. Combine sauce with the hamburger and onions in the medium to large pan. Stir it all together and then turn the heat to high and until it starts to boil. Make sure you stir occasionally. Turn heat down to a medium to medium-low, and cook until all elements are heated. If you find the excess sauce is too much, you can turn the heat up a little but don't forget to stir it.
4. Serve on hamburger buns, sandwich bread, hot dog buns, taco shells, etc. Whatever you put your Sloppy Joe's on haha. I like to add either shredded cheddar cheese or shredded fiesta cheese on my Sloppy Joe's, but to each their own.
Hope you enjoy, sorry that I don't exactly have proportions for the ingredients..I kinda pulled all this from my head when I was in a hurry to cook supper tonight haha. Thought I might share though...
If you do make this, please let me know how you like it and how it came out for you! :)
