This is the shot of as yet totally unprepared pumpkin. Just found it fun that some seed sprouted even while still inside, and grew pretty large stalks.

I saw a photo of a pumpkin carved to look like it is vomiting seeds. On a site like extremepumpkins.com or something...

That is one meaty pumpkin! Mine was maybe an inch thick inside.

The little sprouting seeds means it's really ripe, almost over-ripe. It would have made good pie - but it had a great life as a jack o' lantern instead, so it's all good.

O.o Why would you say it is either-or? Do you put the whole pumpkin in the pie, crust including? :)

We had pumpkin soup, pumpkin/rice porridge, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cakes, fried pumpkin in caramel and pumpkin baked in milk :)

I don't know what Fried Pumpkin in Caramel is exactly but it sounds FANTASTIC!

You just cut slices of pumpkin, cover it in butter and sugar, put on the pan and fry -- sugar melts and mixes with pumpkin juice and forms caramel. It's damn delicious and tastes completely different when you fry thin (1/2 cm) and thick (2-4 cm) slices.
