Day 7 of Vulnerable Animals Week and for the Antarctica theme I chose the mesmerizing Orca with a freely chosen prompt 'Alien’. This event was such an amazing and fun experience to both improve, discover new talented artists and direct more attention to these poor animals ❤️ Thank you all so much for the support and hope you all had as much fun as I had! 🥰🖤

I basically combined this with some creature designing and had a lot of fun with it. This is so gonna be a new OC and closed species of mine 💜🖤

The killer whale or orca (Orcinus orca) is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family, of which it is the largest member.
The three main threats to southern resident orcas are lack of prey (chinook salmon), toxic pollution and disturbance from vessels. The southern resident distinct population segment (DPS) is listed as endangered. Southern resident orcas are data deficient under the IUCN red list.

I also really recommend everyone to watch the documentary Blackfish to gain insight into why captive 'performing' orcas are such a savage and selfish decision to make and profit from. Although it is now illegal to hold captive orcas in US Seaworlds, they are still a part of other seaworlds in Asian countries, for example.
