Notes by Jerry Pattinson written in his freshman year in MKU:
"One thing my mentor keeps pestering me, is that i am not my work. many scientists have allowed their mind to wander free into their
research only to come out a shell of a man, mentally broken and sacrificing their own wellbeing and life for their doing.
That is why the board has guidelines for scolars who study the otherwordly. they include these:
Never assume just because you discovered it, it's in your control.
Always share data and observations with the board or a partner.
If it can wait, take time off.
And finally, don't make yourself the testsubject for your own research.
Apparently ages ago, when these guidelines wasn't made, or at least enforced, a lot of good scientists were lost because they
didn't share their discoveries, because they thought it was some grand power only for them. they were not ready for the consequences.
suddenly i'm thinking of the tree falling in the forest. if you make a discovery but don't share it... have the discovery been made?
I don't think it will happen me though. i'm too smart to make myself a testsubject."
