On the other hand, American conservatives (who are a lot different from, say, European conservatives) claim to advocate prosperity, and fatness is supposed to be symbolic of prosperity. That would be in keeping with the ethos of Peter Paul Rubens and Sir Mixalot (though I'm not sure what their political philosophies would be).
