Just then, a bright light shot up over the horizon. Blindingly bright. It had begun. They looked away from the orange glare, lest they blind themselves. The ground shook and the sky turned red. Only seconds now.

Shaz and Marius shared a smile and a giggle. Tears streamed down their eyes. Marius took a sip from his orange soda and toasted.
“Been nice knowin’ ya, Shaz. Thanks for being my friend. Even if I was a jerk at first. Love ya, bud.”
“Me too, Mar–”

And then there was nothing.
