So for christmas my sister got me an art program to try out called Affinity. And figured I should probably at least try it out and see how I like it. And I'm sure a lot of it is just that I haven't found my way around the program all that well yet, but I'm not going to be switching over fully just yet. Doesn't mean that I wasn't able to find some neat features. Probably quite a few neat things in there. One thing i really liked was this symmetry feature, where you can just set down a symmetry line anywhere and it'll automatically copy everything you do on the other side of it. So might do another symmetry drawing just to try that out. Also had a lot more brush options than Photoshop, though I wasn't quite yet experimenting too much with them.


Two main complaints on the program, though. 1) I really don't like an effect it has and haven't figured out how to deal with it yet. Whenever the my tablet's pen is close to the tablet all of the lines I've already drawn get a bit fuzzy. Not by much and if the pen moved away the fuzziness went away. But it was noticeable and distracting. Also didn't like how my lines looked as well, though that's likely more to do with brush settings. 2) it doesn't seem as happy running file sizes I'm used to. Like the reason it's only a sketch is that I actually went through and re-did all my lines which ate up some time, and then when I was starting to just bucket fill colors, the program crashed. And I was all "yeah, I'm not dealing with that anymore." So I called it done with 3 hours worth of work.
