Sounds a bit dangerous to me. I hope it doesn't break, 'cause if that magic ever stops being a crystal, it might be like a nuke going off. O.o;; All that magic escaping at once... or at least, there'd be a sizable burst of undirected magic rushing out into the surrounding environment.
Wouldn't wanna be close to that sword if that ever happened! I'm sure it has safe-guards built in, but I think I'll stick with plain steel for my own characters. =P Still looks cool though! And I bet it can do a lotta things no one's seen yet. Hope she can figure them out before she needs them.

Taking away some of the main tools/relationships/weapons from your character is not something you should do easily, no. If the sword breaks at all, it would be more satisfying to the reader to do it only when things are truly dire. It helps up the ante and makes what comes next far more impactful.
I can kinda empathize. I'm often anxious and have a bad habit of wasting time online. Shame and guilt seem to be two of my strongest emotions, and they're not very helpful, as they often cause me to waste time worrying or just feeling bad, and not doing anything to fix it.
I wish I had some decent advice on that, but it may just be a matter of trial and error. Though I have heard there are emotions you can cultivate that help with motivation. One is Pride, where you focus on the things you've accomplished, no matter how small, to build confidence in yourself. Another is Gratitude, as it sometimes helps to remember what you have, and appreciate it, instead of obsessing over what you don't have. There was a third, but I have trouble remembering it. Need to listen to that Art of Manliness podcast about it again sometime. I think it's rather helpful. Either that or buy the book their guest wrote. =P
In any case, I wish you all the best in your endeavors. Whatever you write, it's still worth something. Besides, if 90% of what you write is garbage, then the more you write, the greater the chance you strike gold. Ain't that worth keeping up the effort?
