Here is a handle I tuned up for my felling axe. The old handle was done up a long time ago and it was done when I wasn't very skilled with making or tuning up handles.
This is a store bought handle, but I can assure the viewer that it looked nothing like the one in the photos presented here.
Almost all store bought axe handles or axe with a handle on its own is basically a thick unusable board.
The handle needs to be shaved down quite a bit before it is useful or even comfortable to the wielder.
This handle is thin and springy much like a bow, it needs to be springy so it whips into the wood that I am cutting and makes the work a lot easier.
The wood is American hickory.
