Nay. There is a proper procedure to deal with such an error.

1. Calmly disconnect the errant device from power, including any batteries.
2. Move said errant device to a open outdoor area.
3. Apply a Commander mallet to the device repeatedly until it has been reduced to sand.

As a side effect, this gets out tension and stress, and has been known to be a great work-out.

Seems like a good procedure, though one might want a back-up plan in case it does turn out to be an alien robot in disguise, and a hostile one at that. =P Though if they can swap forms as quickly as in the Michael Bay movies, it might prove a bit difficult to catch them.

On the flip side, you might wanna be suspicious of any piece of tech that works too well. Could also be a Decepticon. =P Although it wouldn't surprise me if alien robots disguised as machines have infiltrated us already. Would explain why some of them seem to require strange rituals in order to work properly, despite there being no logical reason to require such.

Somewhere, a Decepticon spy is laughing to itself as the weary tech once again pulls out a rubber duck and squeaks it to get the engine running...

Alien robots in disguise shall be hit with an electro-magnetic pulse to disable them and then disassembled per above procedure.

Have you tried deactivating the blessed machine via the activation rune, reigniting the sacred candles, and pressing the activation rune again? If so, we may need to proceed to the Rite of Percussive Maintenance. I would also suggest requesting the blessed machine's Tome of Man'ual from your temple's librarium beforehand, and to repeat binary cants 3472-C through 3491-A before we start.
