Artist Freedom =/= Copyright Laws
Well time already for a new "ID" like picture so it seems...
As of late, i had some talks with people, again, about patreon, my LATEST ID i had on FA and even got blocked by "someone" (Hint: DA followers might know~) who i basically told that insteed of using copyrighted characters for their "artistic pools" they should create their own stuff insteed.
Well and since, i got also people which began, again, to come down to me like "i have the artistic freedom to do XYZ".
...No.
Artistic Freedom does not mean you can use someones creation for your own profit or business or similar. Artistic freedom means, basically, you have the freedom to imagine, create and distribute diverse cultural expressions free of governmental censorship, political interference or the pressures of non-state actors or similar.
So do you see ANYTHING there about "You have the freedom to take someone elses creation for your own good and make money with it"? No, because thats not what Artistic freedom means and what youre trying to excuse is literally thievery - So your "excuse" is invalid.
So who ever comes to me again and is like "i have the freedom!" You have the freedom to draw it - IF the copyright holder ALLOWS it. This are 2 different pairs of shoes there. You can draw what you want, yes, if it is literally your creation and is not already owned by someone. You can create your own "image" of it, yes, but only if the copyright holder has no problem against it - But you literally cant use the "freedom" excuse of using something YOU DONT OWN NOR CREATED for your own good. This has nothing to do with Artistic Freedom - Look it up.

Well, there is nothing more to say 'bout it than "Amen!". Well, it's always the same... breaking someones copyright to gain money for yourself and hope nobody will complane. If this doesn't work, you can follow plan B: "Defend your action with twisted logic, gain four to five false arguments in the name of all that is good and repeat'em."
Hopefully the complaning person will be annoyed, bored or desinterested soon enough so you can continue copyright-piracy. Otherwise there is plan C: "Hide yourself as long as needed until the enforcement's busy with another moron.
*sigh* And people ask me why i don't trust people anymore...

yea. up to this day i dont understand why patreon, as for one thing, even exist. i mean i went just on the mainpage there and they advertise it with "grain your artistic freedom back". Yeaaaaaa...no. I mean i dont get it why patreon, by now, didnt got a bunch of C&Ds. Sure, not every patreon user uses only copyrighted stuff but most of them do which is why patreon, as platform which DOES offer running those businesses should stay ground and guard for that in my opinion - after all, its basically supporting crime aka thievery.
Nah, i think it's something like a safety they put into the terms of service for pareon themself. Might be something like "We're not responsible for the things the users load up! We can't control every single posting, but we will delet it and support every law enforcement in case someone's breaking the copyright! But we can't detect everything by ourselves and neither we can investigate every private agreements between artists and copyright-users."
