"It's the radius of an event horizon, or absolute horizon, from which light cannot escape from a black hole. None of you can escape from me, heroes. What are you going to do?"

Before he settled down as a mastermind of rigged and fascinating gameshows, the entity known as the Gryphmaster was simply identified as Anomaly 01, and given a range of black-hole-related nicknames by his observers, as he was the first extra-terrestrial super-being to invade his Earth. Given that his arrival took out a city (and his black holes abducted said city's population) and he got into a running fight with their Justice League equivalent and WON, one would think he was there to destroy the planet.

Instead, he'd realised how unsporting it was he was so much stronger, and struck a secret bargain to simply live there and indulge in the back and forth of supervillain life from a somewhat more mundane level. Besides, running a kinky gameshow and being a melodramatist in a pretty suit turns out to be a lot more fun than curb-stomping the whole world. Also, he returned the entire population of that city unharmed. He's a villain, not a monster.

"You're a living black hole that can practically warp time and space at will. With those powers, you could take over or destroy the planet!"
"But I don't -want- to take over or destroy the planet. I want to be over-dramatic and run rigged gameshows."
