Went to Bear n' Marra's rockin Halloween party this weekend. So many creative costumes to play camera with. :)

I don't know this guy, but he and his boyfriend stole the show. Captain Hook and Peter Pan.

My secret sauce in this shot is the theatrical yellow gel on my flash.

It was too dark to shoot in that room, so that means flash, right? But flash was looking horrible, an out-of-place white light that dominated any frame it was in. But then it hit me, the room to my eye had all these wonderful purples and blues and wild and crazy colors. So I grabbed a wild and crazy gel from my Strobist pack. I chose yellow since (a) it lets a lot of light through and (b) it would contrast against blues and purples. Then I went to town. Suddenly my flash blended into the scene like it belonged there.
