Vulpine Tarot - The Universe AC Version (READ INFO!!!)
Do not fave this if you're just interested in porn. I posted this to gather opinions and do research, and I'm hoping for a legitimate discussion.
I've started again to mull over an old idea in my head. I've discussed this issue a year or two ago on dA. Obviously, some of my cards feature skyclad, or naked, characters, and true to tv cartoon fashion, all the nudity is obscured or buried in fur. This version, obviously, features the same character, only with her genitalia actually showing.
This is The Universe, more commonly known as The World. It's the final card in the Major Arcana, which signifies completion or a return to new beginnings. It's the conclusion to one story so that the next can begin... The very cycle of life, death, and rebirth.
A Corsac Fox spirit robed in a flowing scarf drifts in space in front of a pentacle-shaped nebula with spirals of energy flowing from her paws. One turns Deosil (clockwise), and the other flows Widdershins (counterclockwise). I know it's difficult to see some of these details, but trust me, they're there.
I know this looks very strongly like my four Aces in the Minor Arcana, but there's a reason why I kept to these trends for this card. The four suits signify the four elements (earth, air, fire, and water), but this card is about pure spiritual enlightenment... The fifth element on the Wiccan pentacle, Spirit. This explains the difficult-to-see pentacle behind the fox.
Made on a 17" MacBook Pro with Illustrator CS3 (for the line work and card frame), Photoshop CS3 Extended (for everything else), and a Wacom Intuos3 6x11 tablet.

Id have to point something out with this though, and in general about furry nudity. obviously furries dont really exist, so there is no set rules, But think about this, on most animals with normal thickness fur, their parts would not be showing, especially the nipples. For most animals, including foxes, their chest fur is the thickest fur of all, hereby eliminating any chance of visible nipples. Now with the other part, sometimes the fur is thinner there, sometimes not, but on humans, pubic hair normally covers that, and since on a furry, it would just become fur, its safe to say that wouldnt be visible either. The only way to legitimately do this, is to say that these characters have very thin fur, almost to the point of colored skin, rather than fur, because this would be otherwise impossible with a full fur coat. Also with the males that you have drawn, those that are nude, ever stop to think how incredibly difficult for a biped to have sex with a penile sheath designed for a quadruped. Human genitals are designed the way they are for a reason, because we are bipeds. Candid sheaths are designed for a quadruped stance. The two dont really mix well. Now for the males, there is no easy solution, at least for one to make physical sense, because for a full furry male, a human penis, wouldnt work well, but for a biped, they would have an extremely hard time with a candid sheath. I have a soultion in the anthro classification sheet on my DA page.

Your reasoning with the fur does have a pretty solid foundation. However, the inhabitants of my world have the tools and technology to trim and style their fur, just like hair. If I had fur, I would want to keep it well-groomed, especially if I'm between my summer and winter coats. As a real-world example, when my hair gets too thick, it gets pretty hard to wear my fedora because my hair keeps pushing the hat up off my head. Keeping my hair well-trimmed prevents that.
There are two reasons why I chose the shape of the male genitalia that I did. I remember someone making an anthro anatomy lesson (I can't remember who made it or where I can find it. Jakkal of Black Tapestries probably made it) where they explain various types of genitals. They said that for weres and other anthros with digitigrade and unguligrade legs, an animalistic penis was the way to go, since those sorts of leg structures are designed for running. The artist reasoned that humanoid genitals would flap around while at full sprint. Not only does this look awkward, but it'd be pretty uncomfortable, as well. Basically, I chose a sheathed penis because of their leg structure, not necessarily their stance. The other reason is that I don't particularly enjoy drawing humanoid male genitals. Come to think of it, for a straight anthro couple to have sex where the male has a sheathed penis wouldn't be as difficult as one would think. After all, the sheath isn't rigid. On top of that, I can imagine that one animalistic trait that anthros of all species inherit is the loose connective tissue with their skin.

                    Your mature filter is gone.
Anyway, when it comes to the male sheath, I wasn't suggesting a human penis, it would look too weird on your style of anthros. On the sliding scale of anthropomorphism, your foxes ,lean far more foxlike, rather than humanlike. But you have created an all too common inconsistency that many anthro artists make. Your males have foxlike genitelia, but your females go human. Dont you think that is a little, Odd. In fact, the only thing that your foxes have in terms of human traits, is human hair, opposable thumbs, bipedial stance, and of course female breasts. My reccomendation, seriously downsize, or get rid of the breasts all together. Because the way its set up now, it doent make biological or physiological sense. And besides, you know why Breasts are among the first human traits too be added.
As for the male Sheath itself, It depends upon the animal your dealing with, some animals, have a bone in their penis, some do not. Which ones, I do not know. But what I offer is a third alternative, one where you do not have to make a choice between fox and Human. this option is a hybrid of the two. Yes the penis is still sheathed, but rather than being vertical, The sheath faces outward, but is sunken into the body, so only the very tip at most is showing. In fact the thing would only be visible on those types with thin fur. It is similar to the sheath used by rodents, felines and most other small animals. Its really the only way to make sense, and yet, to be fully functional.
And one thing, about the fur, yes they can trim their fur, but think about it, is it really practical to spend hours trimming an entire bodies worth of fur. Unless of course she is only trimming around her breasts and groin, in which the only reason I can see for that is if she is actively nursing. In addition the way you have it here, it looks to me more like she buzzed cut herself, and yet still missed the tuff in the middle. So yes, you could reason that they trim their hair, but it doesnt really look it in the picture.
