Compared to the SciFi shows that were produced at the same time it did look a bit cheap even back then, but there still was a certain gloss about it. Which now has worn off a little. Funny how that goes sometimes.
And yeah, Eccleston and Piper really had great screen chemistry!

I also thought it was a good structure for a soft reboot's second episode. It explores both the space/time aspect's of traveling in the TARDIS and the dramatic implications of that. Especially love when Rose calls her mom (I think that's this episode? I'm doing this on memory alone). Just a good step in terms of reintroduction from a talented show runner.
Yeah, it was in that episode. It was an aspect that just had to be explored in a time when TV shows were getting more and more sophisticated in their storytelling (though they started to do that to an extent with Ace, way back), so it wasn't totally unexpected when it happened. Nevertheless though, it felt really new and refreshing when one actually got to see it play out on the screen. It was a little bit exciting, actually. :)
