Access to files and documentation regarding MA-XX15 is to be strictly controlled and monitored. All research data is to be handled by Dr. MacInroy following acquisition, and appropriately screened and destroyed as necessary. We blinked, and we forgot what the light looked like. Execution of Flumen Protocol Level 1 is mandatory for all personnel following exposure to any information or imagery pertaining to this anomaly, including those assigned to its research. Higher Protocol levels may be authorized in the event of an information breach.

MA-XX15 is to be contained on-site at its location, which is currently 2,175 meters beneath the Red Sea. A permanent field containment team is to be stationed in proximity, under the guise of a geographical research organization. Containment primarily consists of monitoring the surrounding area so as to prevent any form of human contact, and to investigate potential exposure events. We closed our eyes. Observation of the entity may be carried out using automated R.O.V.’s, with any change in position or behavior to be immediately noted and subsequently filed. There was nothing. All personnel who engage in observational research or data examination must do so in isolation, and are not to engage with others until Flumen Protocol has been enacted appropriately. Thus far, only sapient life appears affected, though local wildlife is still to be monitored closely for any notable behavioral changes.

This anomaly has an approximated standing height of 35 meters, with additional ribbon-like appendages that extend for upwards of 75 meters. Movement in both instances consisted of a rearrangement of the spheres surrounding the entity, a small elevation in depth, and a period of approximately seven hours in which a series of gestures were made. Affected individuals will find their thoughts particularly drawn to self-reflection and analysis. These thoughts will become increasingly intrusive, with some individuals spending upwards of several hours in a meditative state; occasionally, this will occur spontaneously. Those who are so affected have noted that they were unaware of how much time had actually passed during these episodes. This effect can have a drastic effect on the habits and lifestyles of those afflicted, as they begin to spend a gradually increasing amount of time in this state.

All noted cases of exposure have additionally included instances of a singular hallucination. Upon closing their eyes, an individual who has gained awareness of MA-XX15 will experience true “Eigengrau,” regardless of the level of ambient light. Do you remember? This will last for anywhere between 15 and 45 seconds, before the formation of what has been described as a “red halo;” it has likewise been referred to as an eye, or a ring. This visualization will remain for as long as the individual’s eyes remain closed, with some reporting it as becoming stronger with time. Witnesses describe the phenomenon as deeply unsettling, yet profound. A handful of witnesses have additionally reported similar anomalies during dreams, particularly if lucid dreaming occurs. Do you know? When combined, this visualization – combined with the impulse for self-reflection – will frequently drive those exposed towards joining (or in some cases, creating) a spiritual movement. As they share their experiences and interpretations with others, they spread the effect of MA-XX15. Do you see? Some additional symptoms such as headaches, chronic fatigue, night-blindness, and hyphemas have also been noted.

It is currently unclear if these effects are purposefully enacted, or passively generated. Where are the lights? No changes in the entity’s behavior have been observed when an affected individual is placed in close proximity. However, said individuals have exhibited a spike in neural activity centered in the temporal lobe, with eighty-seven percent displaying symptoms of acute ictal religiosity seizure when brought to a distance of 500 meters or less. Turn your eyes. This number drops to fifty-three percent if remote cameras are manually operated by those affected. Turn our eyes. As any personnel engaged in research are considered immediately affected, this has necessitated the use of automated remote viewing systems. Look at you. This effect will dissipate once the individual is removed from the area of effect; however, there may be lasting psychological effects following the event. Note: It has been observed that recorded data is additionally susceptible to corruption by MA-XX15. Beyond the standard hazardous memetic effect that knowledge of this entity possesses, distortion of the recorded material has occurred with a regularity of thirty-six percent. Such distortions may include but are not limited to: red discoloration or spherical video artifacts in visual recordings; a low hum, identified as infrasound phrases in multiple languages – including three distinct as-of-yet unknown languages – in audio recordings; the appearance of unusual words or phrases within text documents, including hand-written notes. This corruption has a twenty-four percent chance of affecting adjacently-stored records, including those not pertaining to MA-XX15. All records and site terminals must therefore be kept strictly isolated.

Dr. MacInroy, personal note: Forgetting things is easy, remembering is hard. Forgetting to forget is the weird part, staying awake and aware when others slip off into the entity's zen paradise. But it isn't the worst place to be lost. Not by a long shot.
