i always HATED the way sally’s folks were depicted in the archie comic run (especially her father), so i wanted to make my own versions. The King is functionally the same as he was in satAM, but i’ve given him the first name of Timothy (as a nod to his VA, Tim Curry), and a more squirrel-like tail to better reflect his species.
The Queen also has a slight name alteration; her given name as Ceres, but she goes by Alicia (her middle name) to those that are close to her. In royal court, she would be addressed as Queen Ceres Acorn. She is also a chipmunk.
That makes Sally half squirrel and half chipmunk! as for why she has a short tail, well, maybe it’s just the way she was born lol

GOD, RIGHT??? WHY did Penders insist on making the king such a...a...And when he was SO LIKEABLE in like the two (or was it three?) episodes he showed up in for SatAM????
(...actually, in retrospect, I can now understand why people shipped Sally x Knuckles in the Archie continuity....they were childhood friends, AND they both had shitty dads. they had SO much to bond over!)
All that aside, this is absolutely beautiful. I love it. SO MUCH. I love that you incorporated Sally's original pink coloration into her momma's design! You really made it work with the deep purple red you also put in there; you can see where Sally gets her red hair from!
(my headcanon is that, while she DOES have quite a bit of princess training and the elegance and grace to come from that, even at a young age, Sally has always had a rebellious, tomboyish streak; maybe, when she was younger, she got into an accident and had to have a part of her tail amputated? I dunno; common criticisms of portrayals of Princess Sally during the early 90s pointed out that she seemed like...too PERFECT, and I think that'd be funny)

exactly! it always seemed like such a slap in the face for the King to act like such a mega asshole after Sally and the others spent so much time and effort to rescue him from the void. It felt so at odds with how he was portrayed in SatAM (even tho we only saw like a few minutes of him total lol)
