Rosamund gave a sigh as she wiped a bit of sweat from her brow as she and Kira walked together along the boardwalk near the beach, making their way back towards where she’d parked her motorcycle after having stopped in at the super popular local boba tea shop to grab one last little treat for their excursion. Might as well, since they didn't really have a place like it back home, and the two had been itching to try it for the first time after seeing so many other people walking around with cups of the stuff for pretty much the whole day. And it had certainly been worth it, she almost wished they actually did have a shop just like it in their own town just so she could have this every day! The strawberry flavored boba tea she'd chosen was a tasty, refreshing, and sweet dessert after they'd had a good-sized dinner at the restaurant only a couple blocks down, and Kira seemed equally pleased with her choice of the peach mango tea as she sipped dutifully at it while leisurely swirling the deep blue pearls gathered at the bottom of the cup with the straw.
It had been the first official weekend of summer, and with everything that had been going on as of late, the wolverine had a sudden flash of inspiration and had suggested that they should go on an impromptu road trip for a bit of stress relief. It seemed like they both needed a bit of a calm, relaxing little day-cation away from home, just the two of them spending time together without having to worry about anything else. Kira had been completely on board with the idea, even proposing that they should go out to Fayview, the nearby beach town about a three hour drive away that she’d really wanted to visit for some time. And of course, who was Rosa to say no to her best friend and fellow housemate?
And boy it had been an absolutely lovely trip overall, Rosamund couldn’t help but feel a bit sad at how quickly the day seemed to have passed them by while they’d had fun exploring and shopping around the quaint little town as the sun was already starting to set by now. But at least they’d bought quite a few souvenirs to take back with them, and she’d taken so many photos of the many different places they’d gone to visit during their time here with that old Polaroid camera she’d gotten from her father a long time ago. However, as she'd been idly looking through the pictures she’d taken all throughout their venture while sipping at her strawberry tea, the views of the beach and the ocean beyond, their meals at the local restaurants, and the beautiful sights they’d seen while out hiking along the nearby nature trails, the wolverine couldn’t help but notice a distinct lack of photos of just, well… the two of them. And apparently there was enough film remaining for one last picture left in the camera last she checked, which gave her an idea…
“Yo, Kätzchen, ya mind if I get a photo of just the two of us together?” she asked, glancing over towards her best friend as she held the camera up in offering, “Y’know, just for memory’s sake?”
It felt like it would be a nice little final bookend to cap off what had been an absolutely wonderful day, and with the setting sun tinting the skies a menagerie of beautiful bright orange, gold, and red shades it seemed like an almost perfect setting. Kira furrowed her brow a bit at the proposal, seeming a bit uncertain as she’d never really been too fond of having her picture taken but didn’t want to turn her friend down.
“Uhm… sure? I mean, I suppose I wouldn’t mind,” she answered with a shrug, offering a shy little smile, “Guess there’s no harm in just one, right?”
“Mmmmm, you don’t sound too sure… One photo's not a big deal, right? I mean, don’t people take pictures of you pretty much all the time at the cabaret club while you’re performing?” Rosamund inquired curiously, quirking a brow slightly, “I mean, you don’t gotta if you really don’t want to. I just thought it’d be nice to have one of us as an extra little 'souvenir' from our trip, ja?” She supposed Kira had her own reservations about having her picture taken for reasons known only to her, and though she’d be disappointed if the lynx really didn’t want to be part of the photo she didn’t want to force her friend into it.
“Ah… Well, technically yeah? But that’s, uh, a bit different…” At least at the cabaret club, Kira was far more focused on the performance itself, putting on a good show for the audience with her singing and dancing was her main priority while she was up on that stage. The paparazzi in the crowd snapping pictures of her on their phones and cameras were the least of her worries, though she couldn’t say she really cared much for photos of her being posted on social media and other such sites on the internet. But it wasn’t like she could just tell them to stop now that they were out there for the whole world to see, she just hoped that it wouldn’t come back to bite her and by proxy her friends in the ass at some point… “But, I mean, I don’t have any problems if it’ll just be the two of us. I can’t say I’ll really be super comfortable with it since, you know, camera-shy and whatnot... But really, I wouldn’t mind getting a picture together if you really want to!”
“If ya say so,” Rosamund hummed with a shrug, not entirely convinced despite the lynx’s reassurance but supposed that there couldn’t be any harm in it if she was at least willing. With an affirmative nod, she pulled out the old Polaroid camera as they found a good place to briefly stop to take the picture, bending down on her knees a little so that she could hopefully get both of them comfortably in frame due to her being a good couple feet taller than her dark-furred friend and holding the camera out in position.
“Right, give your best smile and I’ll snap the photo on three,” she said, hovering a finger over the shutter release button as she held the camera as steadily as she could, “One… two… three!”

“Aaaaand there we go! Now that wasn’t so bad, ja?” Rosamund chuckled softly, giving the lynx a playful little nudge with an elbow before pulling out the photograph as the Polaroid spat it out of it's little built-in film printer.
“Yeah, yeah, sure…” Kira murmured as she rolled her eyes a bit at the teasing gesture, yet the warm, fond smile on her face never once wavered as she gave Rosa a gentle pat on the arm. “You’re not gonna post that one online, right?”
“Pffffft, as if!” the wolverine exclaimed with a boisterous laugh as she shielded the newly printed photo from the bright light with a hand as it took a bit for it to develop, a bright grin crossing her face upon seeing the results and admiring her handiwork, “As far as I’m concerned, this is a special photo meant for our eyes only. No one else besides the two of us get to see it, ever.”
People online already ogled enough at the hundreds of pictures of Kira at the club posted on at least ten different social media sites all across the internet, like hell Rosamund was going to give them even more material to work with. And maybe a part of her just couldn’t help but burn red hot with envy whenever she scrolled through her online feed on WeShare and came across at least ten different pictures of her friend posted publicly by a bunch of randos, with numerous comments plastered on them swooning over how ‘hot’ and ‘devilishly sexy’ she was. And of course there’d always be at least a few scattered here and there that were a bit more on the… risqué side, to put it lightly. Ugh… Rosamund closed her eyes briefly and took a deep breath to force those thoughts of seething anger and jealousy deep into the back of her mind, not wanting such sour feelings to spoil the mood of an otherwise great day spending some good quality time with her best friend (and crush).
That aside, however, she was definitely going to put this photo of them in her room after they got home, in a secret place that only she and Kira knew about. She’d keep it stashed amongst her ever growing treasure trove of special memories that she’d keep safe and cherish for as long as she lived, and only to be shared between just the two of them and no one else. The wolverine made a mental note to add a nice little caption label to the space underneath the photograph later on, and maybe some little hearts in red marker as well for a bit of cute extra decoration. You know, just for good measure!
An adorable little boba tea-themed YCH just in time for the incoming summer, featuring my two dear girls Rosamund and Kira! Art was done by the delightful
pituchini! (Check them out, give them a watch, and consider commissioning them if you really like their style!) Thank you again for such a cute and lovely piece!! <3 <3

‘Eyyyyy, thanks so much again! It always makes me happy to hear that you enjoy these little stories! Again, hard to believe it’s already been so long since I even wrote this one, haha~ ^^
“I suppose that’s true enough! I’m not really the type who likes getting photos taken, but it’s hard to really say no when Rosa asks me to. It’s a pretty nice picture, though! Always makes me feel like that beach trip was just yesterday whenever I look at it~“ - Kira
