My Halloween Costume for 2010
A rendition of the classic 'Great White Hunter' or 'Big game Hunter' that was so popular a few decades past.
I wore this while at work and the results were varied.
Most people thought I was Indianna Jones for some reason. Although a couple at least sort-of got the idea and shouted "JUMANJI!" upon seeing me.
I don't like buying my costumes pre-made from a store. While a choice of a pre-packaged costume can show a person's taste it does feel like they're not very imaginitive.
My outfit was pieced together from many sources. Shirt and pants from Mark's Work warehouse, Glasses were from the Brass and Glass table at the last Antrocon, The Bandolier I found at a party store, The Pith Helmet froma novelty store, and the rifle was hand built using various parts from the hardware Store and the Buck store.
What do you think Folks?

I had concidered going to the next Anthrocon with this outfit with the minor adjustments of wearing an animal mask and adding a plunger to the rifle.
I was thinking people would get a kick out posing with the plunger as if freshly 'Bagged' by the hunter, or doing a reversal and they hold the gun and I played the part of the trophy.
A friend who had been to these before advised against it. He pointed out that the Convention security may have an issue with the 'Rifle' carried openly (not to mention the problems surrounding my bringing it over the border and back and forth from the hotel) also he brought to my attention that there are some very dense people running about who would go out of their way to be offended by such harmless antics.
So I'm leaving the official outfit behind and looking into something that would cause less of a stir.
Pity.

Pfff...
I know for a fact that Pennsylvania recognizes my Mass Licence to Carry Firearms. If you want, I'll carry it for you.
You should not have any problem with what is a TOY gun in crossing the border. Heck, a few years back, but still post 9-11, Murray Mouse came into the country from England on an airplane with a pair of toy dueling pistols. Just declare that you have a homemade toy gun and you should not have any problems.
And, if you check, AC's policy does allow for non functional replica weapons that are a part of a costume.
WRT the rest of their weapons policy, *don't* get me started...
