It is well known that Birds and cats can be pretty territorial, so if you combine them both into a gryphon then you are going to have a bad time if you float into their territory. Shi is finding that out the hard way. Although really, I doubt that Meliae really finds her much of a threat. Maybe there's an alternate motive for the bird's actions? who knows.
