Recently got the first art made of my Sangheili character I made up in my head back in 2013.
While he was once Covenant, he was never particularly believing. He just kept his thoughts to himself to not be branded a heretic. What made him ex-Covenant, however, was a mission on a Forerunner facility in an obscure part of space to retrieve a powerful artifact. As Viro and his group investigated the site, they discovered too late that it was infested with Flood, and Viro was the only one fortunate enough to not get consumed.
While Viro thought he was backed into a corner, an open in a nearby wall dematerialized, and a mechanical voice told him to quickly get in it. As Viro had no choice, he did as the voice told him, and the wall rematerialized behind him. The voice greeted Viro and introduced itself as an AI named Varied Trajectory, mentioning that it reactivated to the sight of Viro fighting the Flood to the best of his abilities and would not like to see him turned.
Viro thanked the AI for saving his life, but he asked if there was any other reason why it did so. Varied Trajectory responded that it saw Viro's combat prowess and wished to have Viro's help in cleansing the Flood off the facility using a device that Varied Trajectory kept in this room called the Photon Crucible, and in exchange, Viro could keep it to use after he was done. Viro accepted.
The Photon Crucible attached to his arm, bonding to his nervous system, vaporizing his old armor, and replacing it with a more Forerunner-looking one. Varied Trajectory, which had downloaded itself into the Photon Crucible, explained that this device could make any material thing Viro wanted as long as there were enough hardlight to fuel it, such as his weapons: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/47401642/.
A long Flood cleansing later, Viro and Varied Trajectory flew out of there in a ship looking like this: https://www.deviantart.com/shadowle.....hter-568313305 but with a Forerunner look due to being made by the Photon Crucible, in search of a new path. He eventually joined the Swords of Sanghelios later down the line.
