Oh, you're correct though! That's the short stoy, Metamorphosis, with the main character (Gregor Samsa) waking up transformed into a cockroach. This is from The Metamorphoses, an ancient Greek epic poem that catalogues every transformation in Greek mythology. It's been translated many times into English and has had a lot of influence on western poetry. It's also pretty much entirely about transformation so it kind of forces me to obsess about it
