A very heavy redraw of a character I’ve only shown once (technically), which is Onyx the Reaper. This was the first and only time I drew him, and I still didn’t have his full design done. Looking back, he didn’t feel like a threat, sort of like how I felt towards Indigo before her redesign. And with his new design came some updated lore. He still has a history with Astria, though the job of Reapers has changed a bit.
They continue to be a species of very high ranking demons capable of taking souls to make “Vessels” aka demon bodies, though they’ve become far more sinister. Reapers are often seen at hospitals and funerals, though only by those (unknowingly) close to death. They’re considered bad omens and sometimes are even the cause of some deaths.
Like Teraeks, Reapers were made to oppose Ruthnaan’s creations. However, unlike Teraeks, they went through many changes. Before Apex accepted that he couldn’t create like his brother, he attempted to make a canine-like species with lush fur and gorgeous colors.
But, every time he tried, the flesh never formed over the face, spikes and other hideous mutations would appear all over the body, and what was meant to be silky fur was thorny and unpleasant. Frustrated, he instead focused his efforts into purposely making his ideal, beloved creatures into horrifying Death Dealers and Souls Stealers, as they are also called.
Another feature showing that they are indeed Apex’s creations, is that they all possess a red, blood looking saliva despite lacking a tongue and need to eat. It’s very similar to the liquid that pours from the eyes of demons who are being direclty controlled by the anti-god. The liquid smells like a combination of sulfur, rotting corpses, and death, so it is certainly not easy to miss. If seen on any surface, it is to NEVER be touched. Doing so has consequences that always end in, well, death, unsurprisingly. I hope to expand more on them and make more as well, since they are just barely a second in rank to Teraeks.

Woooooah. Looking WAY more threatening indeed. And that is some far more sinister lore. But also makes you feel a bit sad for Apex. He's never heard of the misunderstood beast trope? Ah but that's part of his tragedy. ;-;
Gotta say though, Onyx looks like a perfect version of a hellhound for your universe. ^!^
