Have some angst.

Basically, this connects with an idea of mine: South Park: Universes Coll-Ed, more or less a Stick of Truth/Fractured But Whole parody built like a playable South Park/Ed, Edd n' Eddy crossover fanfic.
Kevin's arc revolves around him dating Shelley Marsh. After discovering what Kevin became after Nazz broke up with him, the Eds (particularly Double D, being fed up with his shallowness) dare him to spend a day with Shelley...and be kind to her; no snide remarks about her headgear. He initially doesn't bat an eye when she tells him she was forced to watch Ed, Edd n' Eddy with Stan and hates the show with a passion as a result, but as he grows to like her more and more, he begins to worry how she'll react upon learning he's one of the characters. He can't keep telling her he's a South Park character forever. What if she sees him as a walking reminder of hours wasted watching some cheap Three Stooges wannabe with her stupid turd little brother while all her friends were out having fun?
Little does he know Shelley lied to him. She actually enjoyed watching most of Stan's favorites with him, including that one. She just felt it wasn't right to watch and enjoy cartoons at her age and was sure Kevin would agree. She's had bad luck with boys in the past, obviously: Skyler dumping her, Larry dying, being unable to communicate with Amir outside of iChat. It's hard for her to find a good boyfriend as is, given her unattractiveness. She doesn't need to repel boys further by having them think she's immature.
Matter of fact, as someone who's always kind of seen myself in Shelley, as strange as it may sound, I guess this was my way of adding a little more of myself to her. This was my biggest insecurity at her age, my metaphorical "headgear", if you will. I felt I was too old to watch cartoons, yet just didn't want to give them up. Of course, unlike Shelley, I'm an asexual girl and didn't really care what boys thought of me. Still, though, I had to carry around this massive weight, leading me to lash out at everyone around me, hence why I believe I identify with Shelley so much. Granted, I never ran my siblings over with a lawn mower or dropped a piano on their heads, but you know what I mean. If you ask me, nobody should ever be told they're too old to like what they like.
Strange to go from a nice, wholesome pic of them being a happy couple to this. Sometimes we need a good cry. I often do.
Fun fact: Those two strange items beside Kevin are part of his superhero costume. The cul-de-sac members have their own superhero alter-egos much like the boys' in Fractured But Whole. The blue thing is his shirt, with "DS" standing for "Dork Slayer", whereas the black thing is his eye patch. Double D worries the eye patch throws off his peripheral vision. Kevin says, "Shut up, dork!"

Ed, Edd n' Eddy belongs to AKA Cartoon Studios
