ah yes, oils are really nice to use! my favorite mediums so far are charcoal and hard pastel, i like how it looks and what you can do to get different effects. but theres PLENTY of different things to experiment with :3 I usually sketch loosely with a mechanical pencil, working out the basic shapes and details, then i darken the lines ill want to keep with either charcoal or a pen... and sometimes i just make a picture with little pen squiggles, which is also really fun!
