Very nice shot of one of my favourite Corvettes (my favourite is the '67).
Fun fact: the flag emblem on the Corvette's nose and deck was inlaid with cloisonne enamel until 1976, making the Corvette the last American car to feature it. Like Chrysler had to do with the early 1960s era Imperials, GM paid a luxury tax on every Corvette sold since cloisonne enamel was considered a piece of jewelry.
*car geek out* ;)

No. It was a one-off build. 150HP engine with a 2 speed (!) automatic transmission and the first all-fibergalss body shell. Heater and AM radio were the only options.
Only 300 were made and about 225 still exist. From memory the first two or three were destroyed deliberately in testing.

As much as I like the '63-67 era Corvette, I also agree with you that something was lost after the first-gen 'Vette.
I feel the same about the Thunderbird. I certainly like the late '50s through the mid '60s four-seat 'Birds, but they don't have the purity of the '55-57 two-seat T-Birds.
