ACT 06- PACIFICATION, After reading this chapter I’m sure you’ll have an understanding of why I titled this chapter what I did.
Author’s Commentary
Please, be sure to read this chapter fully before reading the commentary here. In the wake of this chapter the Stronghold's Central Command has forcibly given Krystal psychic powers, which is much more logical (in context) than what Nintendo did with her in the official lore, which was fairly nonexistent. Here, I actually gave a reasonable origin for her powers, which was for the Stronghold to use her as a defense mechanism against the Imperial soldiers that were trying to steal Krazoa tech. The Psionic Purge Krystal wields is the Stronghold amplifying a Navigator's psychic powers for lethal effect. It's primary purpose it to purge the facility of hostiles should they breach their defenses and penetrate the facility. A Krazoan Navigator would have the skill to selectively target individuals to be purged, allowing them to neutralize hostiles while leaving allies unharmed. They can also do this without injuring themselves. Krystal is not a Krazoa though...
For the first time in this chapter, we get to read from someone’s point of view that isn’t Fox, Krystal, or Scales. Sergeant Mire was included into the chapter in supporting role to help illustrate more effectively what the Psionic Purge was for the person reading. I felt it would be more exciting to read from the POV of someone being hit with the P. Purge than to just write it from Krystal’s POV, which would just be a girl watching people fall over. Would have been boring. Also, since I added Mire, there are two points of reference for the resulting effects of a Psionic Purge (Mire and Scales’ POV). I thought having two POVs would be more effective than just the one.
Glossary
> Psionic – adjective – relating to or denoting the practical use of psychic powers or paranormal phenomena.
> Sergeant Mire – Mire’s name is derived from swamp, which mire is a sort of synonym for. Since Mire was described as a reptile, I felt this appropriate, as well as sounding nice.
