Trying out some new hair for Caraid! I'm not usually a fan of "human hair" on furry characters, but at the same time I always felt that she looked a bit bald without something on her head and the nape of her neck. I thought of just giving her a lot more neck fluff (and still might), but I also really like the idea of her having braids that look like a natural part of her fur. Plus I like to braid my own hair in real life so it suits too!
So I took some time to doodle a braided hairstyle for her to try it out. I quite like it!

You are likely already familiar with this artist, but I am going to point to DarkNatasha because this is basically what she does for a lot of her anthro designs when she does her own thing, might be worth the look for inspiration.
Otherwise, I think doing some braids do look nice!

Her art and Sidian's was what got me into furry to start with so....definitely huge inspiration.
She doesn't post all of the art she makes, but just searching her username here on FA will yield a lot of the sketch commissions she has done for people at conventions if you want a larger pool of stuff to look through.

I agree, I'm not normally one for human style hair on anthros either (especially if it's a different color), but sometimes "extra long fur where human hair would be" can be a workable compromise. Like here, the "hair" and braiding doesn't feel like it conflicts with the rest of the body or like it's tacked on to be more human. It still seems like a natural extension of the character. And personally, I've always thought braiding is a style that works really well for anthro characters. Facial hair though tends to look just as weird unless it's mostly extra long chin fluff.
I think she looks quite lovely here.

Human head hair on anthros is like the overwhelming majority of things in art. If the artist knows what they are doing, it works. If not, regardless what it is nothing can save it.
I think it needs not be specified you know what you are doing - but I will anyway since I know it feels good to hear.
