“Ferb! Ferb, I need your help!” The green character yelled just as he entered the house. “Ferb?”
“In the meditation room…” Ferb said. “First room with the double glass door, Frost.”
Frost ran, approaching the meditation room and walked inside, where he saw Ferb laying on the couch. Frost sat down on a recliner that was in the room.
“Ferb, I need your help.” He said.
“Help with what?” Ferb said, positioning himself up.
“Can Rinzo come over to my little sister’s birthday party?”
“Depends on the reason. Why do you want him to visit?”
“Well, it all began just as I had picked out a recipe…” Frost began to say, transitioning into a small flashback.”
Frost looked through all of his notes from his time with Pinkie Pie.
“What could we do for her…?” He thought to himself. “Something that looks vanilla but has a strawberry filling to it.” He then stumbled to the note. “Ah, here it is!”
Just as he picked up the recipe…
“Frost!” A voice said. “Big brother!” the character roamed around until seeing him in the kitchen. “Oh, there you are…”
He stumbled, putting the recipe away hastily.
“Oh um… Hi, Golden. Didn’t expect to see you…” Frost said, slightly lying about her appearance.
“Mind if I could ask for a last minute gift?” Golden said.
Frost simply nodded.
“Splendid.” She said. “I keep hearing from you and Ferb about this ‘Rinzo’ Character… I know this is last minute but- Can he come and visit? He sounds like a great character.”
“Rinzo?” Frost said. “Well… I’m not sure if-”
“Pretty please?” Golden said, being cute and fluttering her eyes.
“Oh…” Frost said, caving into her cute pose. “Oh, alright. I’ll see if I can reach out to him and if he’ll come to see you. It is your birthday after all.”
Golden Lily went fully giddy and hopped out of the kitchen. Frost kept a smile on until she was fully gone and quietly went to the back door and ran to get to Ferb’s place
“And that’s how it all came to be…”
Ferb stared at Frost for a few seconds and then a moment later, he walked up to his closet to grab it… His Rinzo costume.
The Rinzo costume was made to resemble his pet before losing it. It had white fur and orange stripes, spikes were also along his head and tail. His costume-making friend had made it into a hybrid between a cat and a dragon minus the wings.
“Been a long time since I last wore you, Rinzo…” Ferb said, hugging it.
Frost looked at him, nervous and waiting on his answer.
“I’ll do it.” Ferb said.
“Thank you so much!” Frost said, slowly approaching. “I’ll return the favor in given time, just let me know what the both of us can do and we can make it happen.”
“I do have one thing…” Ferb said, handing out an envelope to his friend.
He looked at the letter which had two mysterious characters on it. Frost would have to save up for the favor to happen.
“You got it.” Frost simply said. “Her party is around noon, perhaps he can arrive before then. I’ll have her blindfolded and then once I give some command, just step in and she’ll be very happy to see him.”
Frost left the house and Ferb looked at Rinzo and walked over to his bathroom to give him a scrub before her party tomorrow.
It was close to 11:15 AM. It was now her birthday, Golden Lily was turning 10 today and Frost gave her a little present.
“Hope you’ll like this.” He said.
Golden Lily opened her present and saw a new set of clothing around Penni Parker.
“Wow…” She said in surprise. “This is cool! Now I could be like her! All I need is her android and it shall be complete.”
“It would be awesome…” Frost said. “Say, would you like to have a nice birthday cake?”
Golden simply nodded.
“Splendid!” Frost said. “But…”
“But what?”
“You’ll need to be blindfolded before you can see it.” Frost said, pulling out a sleeping mask that mostly covered the eyes. It had a spacious size to fit anyone’s eyes. Golden Lily blushed and Frost applied the mask over her eyes and led her downstairs to the kitchen, sitting her down on a chair next to the table.
“How long do I have to wear these?” She asked, adjusting them a little.
“Don’t take those off yet.” Frost said, stealthy placing the cake on the table. “The cake is still being made and I have yet to light the candle but until it finishes… I think I hear the mailman dropping off some stuff.” He bluffed. “Be right back…”
Frost silently snuck away and answered the door to see not Ferb, but Rinzo standing.
“Looking good there, ‘Rinzo’.” Frost whispered, blinking an eye to him.
“Frost… How long do I have to be in this thing?” Ferb under the costume asked, giving him the feet to his costume.
“Just for the day…” Frost motioned him in and closed the door behind ‘Rinzo’ and helped him with his feet and walked his friend to the kitchen where Frost’s sister was. “Come on, I already got the cake finished…”
Frost sat his friend down at a chair across from her and grabbed the already made cake.
“Man, those delivery men..” Frost gave a little chuckle. “What crazy those guys can be.” He set the cake down on the table and kept a hold of a lighter. “Okay, little sister. You can take them off…”
Golden Lily took off the sleep mask and then her heart stopped and she turned pale. She finally saw ‘Rinzo’ for the first time. The ‘Rinzo’ who has come to hang out for her birthday was now in front of her. Rinzo simply waved to her and almost in a flash, she ran and hugged the character.
“Ohmygosh, Ohmygosh, Ohmygosh, Ohmygosh!!!” She said in excitement. “I can’t believe it in our own house. Rinzo. The Cat!”
Rinzo motioned to calm her down (Because Ferb was afraid to speak and give away his real voice) and she walked back to her seat and looked at her splendid birthday cake.
“Happy birthday, Golden.” Frost said as he got a big hug from her.
“Does Rinzo have a birthday gift for me?”
“Well, I’m not quite sure if he’s got one… Do you have a gift for my dearly beloved sister?”
Rinzo tapped his feet and thought and then he grabbed from thin air… A fish sandwich. Golden and Frost looked in confusion until realizing that his friend would often grab a fish sandwich as a joke for his birthday.
“Guess you must have been hungry and ate a fish along the way didn’t you?” Frost said.
Rinzo nodded and pulled the bones of a fish out of his mouth to show proof.
“Fish sandwich… Are you sure?” Golden Lily asked, tilting her head in confusion.
Rinzo just nodded and patted his stomach. Frost knew then about his voice and walked to the counter to make a special drink for him.
"I'll get you a drink, Rinzo. I shouldn't be too long with it." Frost grabbed a cup and a few key ingredients to make a special drink.
"Have you… never spoken before?" She asked.
Rinzo nodded and placed a hand along his mouth.
"Might be shy…" Frost said as he finished his friend's drink. He returned to the table and handed Rinzo's 'drink'. "This will help mask your voice." He whispered quietly to his friend, putting a long straw in it, and walked away.
Ferb looked down at the 'drink' that constantly fizzled and bubbled. He sighed silently and took a few sips from it. Afterwards, he felt something happening to his throat. He looked at Frost who motioned to drink the whole thing. Without any hesitation, he drank the whole thing and set the cup down.
"Feeling a little better?" Frost said to Rinzo.
"...I guess…" He finally spoke but something was different. The 'drink' had suddenly changed Ferb’s voice from an adult to that of an innocent child. “My voice…” Rinzo covered his snout in embarrassment.
“Oh, Rinzo…” Golden said, giving him a hug. “It’s alright if you are shy.”
He looked at Frost who was quietly whispering to him the situation.
“Mind if we can play for the day, Rinzo?” She asked and Rinzo nodded after a few seconds. “Nice! Let’s play with some of my plushies.”
Golden Lily then took a hold of Rinzo’s hand and they ran up the stairs to her bedroom. Rinzo felt a little dizzy from it, maybe because of how fast she went while he was behind her.
“Guess you must be pretty excited to see me, aren’t you Golden?” Rinzo said, holding onto his head.
“Sorry.” Golden Lily said. “I got a little over carried with my excitement. Perhaps we could have a little tea party. Just me, you, the plushies and of course… Frosty, the butler.”
“Sis, make sure you don’t hurt him…” Frost said with a sigh as he finished walking up the stairs and approached her room. “He has to make sure he doesn’t hurt himself too much in order to get back in his portal.”
“A portal?” She said with some confusion.
“I have this little portal I use to travel because I can only get so far with my energy…” Rinzo said, holding his right hand up. “But I mustn't get hurt too much otherwise, I have to go and recover for a few days.”
“Ooohhhhhh…”
“But anyways… A tea party, you said?”
Golden Lily nodded and grabbed her tea set and Frost’s butler outfit. Frost sighed and walked out with his butler costume to get dressed in and get into character.
“Yep.” She replied. “I used to do it a lot with my big brother when I was younger. No one would play but- He stood in and helped.”
“I never had one before.” He said. “What happens during one?”
“A butler would usually bring a kettle and maybe some light food to us, and offer to serve the guests.” Golden explained. “We’d politely say yes, and he would place everything on our table. Once done, one of us would pour the tea for the other guests and enjoy our time.”
“I see…” Rinzo responded as he looked around.
“I assume you want to have some of your cake for the tea party.” Frost said, tucking in the white shirt for his butler costume.
“That’d be great, Frost.” She responded
“Alright.” Frost replied and finished putting his butler costume on. Frost looked at himself in the mirror, fully dressed and ready to be butler as he headed into Golden’s room and prepared himself. “Would you want me to speak in French for this?”
“A little every now and then…” She said handing out his tray along with the kettle and snacks plate.
Rinzo looked at Frost, hoping he was doing okay. Frost nodded as a response and returned to grabbing his necessary accessories.
“Now… We can begin.” Golden Lily said as Frost finished his setup.
“Can I grab this one?” Rinzo said, looking at the big white duck that looked really old with his head laying on his belly.
“Sure.” She said. “That’s Mr. Quakers. Frost did mention that Ferb liked ducks as a kid. Wasn’t sure about what type though.. But when Frost and I were visiting our dad’s friend’s home, I saw it and fell in love with it. I might have kept Mr. Quakers since I was about… 7 to 8 years old.”
Frost steps by the door of her bedroom and waits for a call from her little sister.
“So now…” She whispered to Rinzo and grabbed her plush toy. “Frosty…” Golden called out in a song-like tone of voice.
“Yes, Ms. Golden Lily?” Frost said while a cloth was slightly wrapped around his hands and he stood by her table.
“Can you… set me and my guest, Rinzo a nice kettle and some delightful snacks to go with them?”
“I can do that for you, ma’am…” Frost said. “Does your guest want anything?”
Rinzo froze on the spot not knowing what to say without ruining her established tea party.
“Do you have any… Sleepytime tea?” Rinzo said.
“Sleepytime?” Both Frost and Golden Lily said in surprise.
“Well, you see… I never really had tea before and all I could remember was this packaging with a cute little bear in pajamas, snuggling by the fireplace with tea by his chair.” He said. “It might be because of the box art that I wanted to try it.”
Frost knew about how Ferb never had tea before in his life but found the packaging to stand out. Frost then came with another tea for him to try.
“How about some London Fog to start it off?” Frost suggested. “Sleepytime could help you get to sleep but let’s start off slowly and with something that can help with keeping awake.”
“I guess so, Frosty.” Rinzo said. “I just hope I’m not dampening the party, Golden…”
“Oh, no you’re not Rinzo…” She said, patting his hand. “Think of it as a first hand experience. Then when you return, you’ll have first hand experience and you can have your own tea party.”
“Alrighty…”
Frost nodded and walked on out to make ‘London Fog’.
“Are you liking your visit so far, Rinzo?” Golden asked.
“I think so.” Rinzo said. “Quite the spacious home.”
“Yeah… Been here for a really long time.” She said. “Umaru can testify to that.” She held her plush that was an orange hamster. “Though I think Mr. Quakers would know it more than I do.”
Rinzo lifted Mr. Quakers’ head from his stomach to the table and made it look around. Golden Lily put Umaru onto the table and moved it around and made it look like it gave the duck plush a slight kiss.
“Plushies were always my comfort companion. Whenever I was lonely, I could alway trust a nice plushie to be by my side.” Rinzo said. “Whenever my master was setting me into bed, He gave me a little squeaky mouse toy to snuggle with.”
“Awww…” Golden cooed. “That is so adorable!”
“I still have the mouse to this day.”
Just as Golden Lily blushed, Frost came back with the tea.
“The tea, Madam…” Frost said with a slight French accent. “Hope you will enjoy it, Rinzo.” He took the kettle and poured the tea into the cups.
“Over here!” Frost said to Golden Lily as he catched the ball.
The trio were now in a park passing each other a ball. Golden Lily was smiling and Rinzo was getting more comfortable. Golden caught the ball and went a couple of feet away.
“Nice catch!” Rinzo said. “How about over here?”
“Sure thing!” Golden said and prepared her throw. She threw the ball into the air and it went quite the distance that Rinzo had to run to grab.
While the costume was a bit awkward to hold stuff without it slightly slipping. To his surprise, he was able to catch it without it falling out of his hands.
“Excellent grab!” She complimented.
Under the costume, Ferb blushed and looked in shock at the successful grab.
“Well… Thanks.” Rinzo said with a slight stutter in his voice.
Frost and Golden walked over to Rinzo, all of them giving a moment to relax from their time.
“You know something…” Golden said. “This was the best birthday ever!” She gave Rinzo a hug and then one onto Frost. “Thank you, Frost. This was fun!”
“Well uh…” Rinzo said and thought for a moment. “No problem. It was a lot of fun and hopefully one day I can return to hang out.”
“That… Would be.. Nice.” Golden said while breathing in between the words.
“I sure hope so.” Frost said, guiding her to a relaxing bench. That is until… She then lays her body entirely on the bench and closes her eyes a bit to rest.
Frost and Rinzo were looking in surprise at how much his little sister spent the entire day. Frost pulled out a pillow to rest and head on and approached Rinzo for some chat while Golden was out.
“Thanks for doing that for me, Ferb.” Frost said.
“It’s no problem.” Rinzo said, going for the zipper on the back of his head. “I actually enjoyed it. She was very energetic.”
The zipper pulled out to reveal Ferb catching his breath after being in the costume for so long.
“How long do you think my voice is going to be like this?” Ferb said as his voice was still affected by the drink Frost made to conceal his original voice.
“If I made it right, you should be able to get your voice back either after a hot shower or after some rest.” Frost said, thinking back to the special drink he made. “Think you could help me bring her back to our house?”
“I can do that for you, Frost.” Ferb replied as he quickly got out of the costume and hid it where Golden Lily couldn’t see it.
The sun was shining as Golden Lily was fast asleep much like a cat on a sunny afternoon. For her, this was a birthday she will never forget.
