I’ve really got to get Kirby and the Forgotten Land; it looks so fun! Plus, there’s so many cute animals! I love the Beast Pack, their appearances, personalities, and them still being around after the end of the game. Sillydillo in particular caught my eye; Clawroline’s great, and I am definitely doing her and the rest of the Beast Pack at some point, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the goofy weirdos, especially the ones who seem a bit off their rocker. Combine that with him apparently being a surprisingly tough boss (of all the people to give a one hit kill attack to…), and he really got my attention.
…Also, I find the name of the type of armadillo he’s theorized to be hilarious. Who’d have thought “screaming hairy armadillo” was the actual name of a species?
I’m pretty sure this is the first picture of him hypnotized. Hopefully it won’t be the last!
Sillydillo happily ran into his cave, arms filled with supplies. He’d found so much he could use! Cloth, paint, road signs (he loved those; they had so many uses, decoration, doll parts, stickers), and best yet, a tray full of tennis balls! The Queen’s birthday was coming up, and what better gift than a doll of her husband? She could have more than one of her special someone, like he did! The tricky part so far had been finding something to use for muscles; cotton was good stuffing, but it just didn’t cut it here. Hopefully the tennis balls worked; if not, he could replace any noses that had fallen off!
The ‘dillo dug into the floor, opening up a tunnel. It was so much easier then breaking apart the floor whenever he wanted to go down; easier to put back together, too! Soon enough, Sillydillo was through, pulling his supplies with him as he swept a dirt-covered sheet over the hole (no sneak peeks!). He gave his dolls a loving look; no matter how damaged they got, they were still beautiful to him. Some quick repairs (an eye here, a nose there) and they were as good as new! He gave the most recent one a hug; he promised he’d dance with her later, right now, he had an idea he needed to work on before he forgot.
Kaa slithered into the cave, looking around with increasingly confused expressions. He’d seen Sillydillo wandering about, happily dancing in between digging through debris. As far as first impressions went, it had certainly been a strange one; he supposed he shouldn’t have expected any less from his home. So far, he was seeing papier-mache Kirbys hanging from the ceiling, road signs on the walls, and no trace of Sillydillo. Had he slipped out somehow?
Whatever the case, this was definitely where he lived. At some point he’d come back. Kaa was a patient python; he could wait.
Sillydillo dusted his claws off as he stepped back to admire his handiwork. Golf balls for eyes, a papier-mache head stuffed with cotton and covered in felt, a mop dyed red for a mane; the head was complete. So far, the tennis balls had worked for muscles, but he might want to find something softer; it wasn’t the comfiest thing to rest your head on. Still, he was definitely on the right track-
A clatter from above snapped him from his thoughts. Either he had a visitor, or he needed to get more glue for his signs. Possibly both. Either way, he’d need to check.
Kaa glanced at the sign he’d knocked over. Hopefully Sillydillo didn’t notice when he came back. Where was he, anyways?
The snake turned to look at the entrance-
And found himself face to face with a giant pair of eyes.
Kaa yelped as he slid as far back as he could from the armadillo pulling himself out of the ground. Soon enough, Sillydillo towered over him, reaching towards the snake-
And past him, to put the sign back up.
The dollmaker smiled. Hello! Who was he? What was he doing here?
Kaa breathed a sigh of relief, and introduced himself. He was sorry about the sign; he’d been hoping to meet him, and accidentally bumped into it. After seeing the armadillo dance at the mall, he’d been thinking of learning himself; was there any chance Sillydillo could teach him?
Sillydillo shrugged. The sign was no problem, but he wasn’t sure about the dancing. The only ones he knew involved spinning, and he didn’t know if they’d work without limbs. How was he at twirling?
Kaa smirked. Twirling? No idea. Swirling? Excellent…
Sillydillo oohed as Kaa’s eyes filled with the most beautiful colors he’d ever seen. The snake moved his head in circles, and the armadillo followed, eager for more. Every spiral was special, shining and soft as they swirled through his thoughts, his troubles sinking in a sea of warm, fuzzy bliss. The snake swayed about in a chaotic dance, and the armadillo swayed with him, his pupils shrinking to pinpricks in the process. Kaa beckoned, and Sillydillo obeyed, stumbling over with a smile to sweep up the snake in his arms.
The two spun as the dance begun, their eyes never leaving each other’s. Ring after ring of the snake’s body wrapped around the dizzy ‘dillo’s shell, while ring after ring of the snake’s colors filled his eyes. Coils compressed and caressed, scale slid over scale, and a tail scratched behind the ear; it was all Sillydillo could do to keep dancing as he moaned in delight, his tongue drooping out as he began to drool. He’d never been so relaxed, so happy in his life, not a thought in his head but of the snake, his colors, and how good it all felt.
Kaa smiled as they reached the finale, slowing to a stop. He told Sillydillo that he had a way to make what he was feeling last forever, to make their performance never end; would he like that?
Sillydillo couldn’t have been quicker to say yes.
The snake smirked as he continued to speak, his words echoing in the armadillo’s head. How smart Sillydillo was to look into the swirls. How smart he was to trust Kaa. How Kaa would care for him, taking up the burden of thoughts and free will, and how Sillydillo would be free to be a silly, swirly-eyed pet. How a pet loved their master, doing anything for him, and how in return their master loved them, with coils, cuddles, and color.
Dazed, drooling and delighted, the dollmaker agreed, his tail wagging a mile a minute. Of course he’d obey; he loved Master! He wanted to be his pet, loved and cuddled as he helped him with everything. Who needed free will? All he needed was Master!
A tug on the neck, and with a PING! Sillydillo broke out into the goofiest grin that had ever crossed his face.
Kaa chuckled as he pet his latest catch; Sillydillo was a strange one to be sure, but something about him was just so endearing. He’d be so much fun to play with, and useful as well! He was a powerful protector, a clever captor, and a delightful dancer.
And to think, he came with so many cuddly friends…
