The Top Hat 'Replica' [October 20th 2021]
Apart from a special Edinburgh Moonwalk drawing done for my mum earlier in the year, this here was my first attempt at doing supplementary artwork for the SPCM comic series (at this point in time, I was in the middle of pre-production on Issue #3). The date is important to understand this piece, as during October 2021, the TUGS fandom was in exceptionally good spirits, following the publication of a two-hour video essay covering the series, and the subsequent discovery of an unaired test pilot for an American dub of the series.
For context, Top Hat - one of the Star Tugs - is one of the two main characters in TUGS whose model remains unaccounted for at time of writing (the other being Grampus). The last reliable sighting of the model was at a special promotional event at Gloucester Docks in June 1990, and many theories abound as to what happened to him after that. These theories run the gamut of plausibility - and to be honest, the situation I present here isn't even the most insane theory I've come across!
