The Zirini are a species of superpowered beings who once protected the galaxy, until a military coup forced them to become conquerors. Before the members of the new regime could enter the throne room. The Zirini king and queen placed their infant son, Kamin Zex, into a cloaked escape pod and sent him to Earth, where they knew he could one day do good like their people were supposed to, but most likely never would again. The ruling couple did not survive. Upon ariving on Earth, he was unfortunately seized by a terrorist cell who, upon discovering his powers, wanted to use poor Kamin as a weapon. In their labs, they genetically modified him to enhance his power several times fold.

It was three months before he was rescued by the Super-Soldier Superhero, Soldier Boy, along with a battalion of soldiers. He and the military found out about his alien origins and his raw power. He was placed in the care of the scientist Dr. Robert Smith, who named him John. Despite knowing he was an alien, he never found out his exact origins. H grew accustomed to his powers and decided to use them to become the superhero, Homelander!
