Here are a pair of aglets I made from sections of copper pipe.
There are two pairs, but they both look the exact same.
To make these I crushed a 1/4th inch OD copper pipe flat and then filed the edges away until it split and gave me two flat pieces.
The flat pieces were then heated and cooled off in vinegar (you can use water) to soften them and knock off the oxide layer.

Not only was this to make the sheet thinner, but it also widened it. I had to do this several times so the piece was half an inch wide. I used a pair of sheet metal shears to snip the edges off so it took on a sort of very acute trapezoidal shape. It was then heated once again and annealed before using a special pair of jewelry pliers to set the initial U shape sort of fold before I then made it into a cone.
