The world where i was born
Chapter 1: Bonds
The prince has recently returned to his home, he is still somewhat introverted and has difficulty communicating in the dragon language, he is trying as hard as he can. The young blue dragon sleeps in his round bed, a heavy sleep from someone who hasn't rested well for days, the morning light starts to enter through the window illuminating the right side of the bed and disturbs the prince's sleep, he uses his wings to cover his head preventing the light from reaching his eyes, it works very well, but he didn't count on his mother opening the bedroom door and telling him to get up.
– Still sleeping? It's late, get your ass out of there and go enjoy the day. – Says the queen, closing the door tightly.
The prince jumps on the bed, startled by the bang caused by the door, he looks at the exit with wide eyes, but soon it starts to slowly close, suddenly his mother opens the door again and almost screams when talking to him.
– And before you leave, take a shower please, you stink. – Dragiana sniffs the air, sensing the stench in the place.
– I'm going! – Rise his head up and look towards the door.
Dragiana closes the door leaving the prince alone, Dragon finds it strange that he is stinking and sniffles under his wing, by his disgusted expression it is noticeable that he needs a bath.
– "But why the hell do I smell so bad?"
Then he remembers last night's intense workouts that left him so sleepy that he even forgot to take a shower. Without many options, the young prince gets up, stretches his spine and goes to the bathroom, luckily he has one of his own in his room. Dragon fills the hot tub and jumps in, being a dragon and living in a place where clothing is optional has its advantages, it's still weird walking around on all fours without clothes on, but he's getting used to it. After a good fifteen-minute shower, the young dragon leaves his room heading towards the main hall, on the way, still in the hallway, he meets his sister Dragonita who greets him.
– Finally, I thought you were already dead there. – Says the sister with a giggle.
– Well… my body was. – Try to keep his eyes open.
– You look awful, you know, you shouldn't sleep this late. – Dragonita smiles strangely.
– Umm… why are you looking at me like that? – He looks scared at his sister.
– Nothing important, by the way, did you know that Drina came here asking about you today?
– Seriously? What she wanted? – The prince's eyes shine with joy.
– I don’t know, she said she wanted to talk with you and left without leaving any message after finding you’re still sleeping. – She looks away as she swings her left arm.
– Umm thanks, I’m going to find her, I hope she wasn't upset that I was sleeping.
Dragon says goodbye to his sister and runs up the stairs, he almost bumps into his younger brother who was coming up behind him just before they finished the conversation, he looks at his sister with disapproval.
– Why did you lie to him? You were with me the whole time in the library. – Sit on the floor and cross his arms.
– I'm just helping him to socialize, he still has a hard time communicating when he gets nervous, and as a very noticeable sister I've been noticing that he likes to watch someone else during the class, I'm just encouraging him to get what he wants.
– His intentions are good, but that was kind of low, what if he creates too much expectation and doesn't get the response he expects? Besides, you know very well who her father is.
– I never said it's going to be easy, actually I truly believe these two are going to stay together, the only problem is her father, but that’s his problem.
– How are you so sure they are going to be a couple? – Draco tilts his head looking curious.
– I have not, it’s just my intuition.
– Right, your intuition. – Look away.
– Don't forget it was your intuition that brought him back, I never doubted you. – She points to her brother.
– Alright, fair enough. – Relax his head and smile.
The two head to their respective rooms while Dragon devours his breakfast like a ravenous beast, his father is even surprised at how quickly he eats.
– Go easy, the food is not going to flee away from you. – Says the king, slightly annoyed with the lack of manners while eating.
– Dragon swallows the food before speaking. – Sorry, I’m in a hurry. – Say the prince devouring that piece of meat.
– Something happened? – Asks Dracanos, intrigued by his son's weird behavior.
– Nothing important, just going to meet Drake soon.
– You became friends with this dragon very quickly, it's good to see you're getting along. – The king smiles.
– He's weird sometimes, he acts like he's been very intimate since our first conversation, it feels like he's known me for years.
– He is a good guy, be kind with him.
– Do you know him? – Dragon wags his ears curiously.
– In some ways, he is a very talented fighter, I have personally suggested that Dreiknaro accept him at the agency.
– I see, but how did you found him?
– The king almost choked on hearing the question. – Well, it's a long story, in short, you already know he's an orphan. We had accidentally found him around and he displayed excellent fighting skills, he was still very inexperienced but he already knew the basics to survive.
– Wow, I didn't know that, thanks for telling me. – The young dragon stepped away from the table.
– Going already? – Ask the king.
– I can't be late, we'll talk later, see you later dad. – Quickly heads toward the exit.
Dragonita arrives in the dining room and sees her father still finishing eating, she pulls up a chair and sits next to him to talk.
– It’s rare to see both of you sticking some time together during the morning.
– I almost never have time for him, being the king takes up most of my time and right now all I want to do is pay attention to my son, but I'm happy to know he's in good company, Drake is someone I trust.
– Yeah, the two became friends quickly, by the way did he say where he was going? – Asks the curious princess.
– He told me he was going to meet Drake, but I've never seen him act weird like he did today. – Dracanos takes a cup to his mouth and begins to drink the contents.
– It's because he's not going to meet Drake, but his future girlfriend. – Dragonita giggles.
– What? Who? – Asks the king as he drinks.
– Drinks Krystalis.
– Dracanos swigs all the drink out and widens his eyes. – Is this serious? Of all the girls at school, did he just pick General Drakalos' daughter?
– Well, he doesn't even know it yet. - The princess laughs, having fun with that.
– Best not to talk about it with the general, he'll freak out if he hears about it and he'll try to stop it as much as he can. – Says the king worried about his son.
– I only told you because you and the general are very close, Mom suspects too, Draco already knows too.
– The king closes his eyes and expires. – Dragon and Drina, who would have thought…
Dragon flies over the city looking for his friend who has a certain love interest, although he has recently returned to his homeland his dragon heart is already beating hard for someone, it's almost like a fate, or perhaps pure instinct, the necessity of having a partner comes from the ancient times, dragons that reached maturity left their nests in search of a mate, it was common for couples to form and stay together for life, although they have evolved in every way their instincts still remain present in their DNA and to this day it is natural for young dragons to seek mates and form a family very early on.
While looking for Drina, the prince ends up meeting his faithful friend Drake in the way, both are flying to the same direction so an approach by air won't hurt. Dragon speeds up and lowers the height standing side by side with his friend, he waves with a huge smile on his face.
– Hey! How are you going? – Ask Dragon eagerly.
– Drake waves back and answers the question. – Not bad, I'm doing some weekly shopping and investigating some personal stuff. – Shows the bag in the hand full of food.
– What are you up to? – Asks the worried prince.
– No big deal, it's just a few things I need to check, but what about you? What's with that huge smile?
– Drina said she wanted to meet me, well, my sister told me that she went to our house to see me, but I was sleeping.
– Oh, really? - Stares at the prince with a smile.
– Hey! I don't even know what she wanted with me.
– But you like her, don't you? – Asks Drake.
– You know I do, but that doesn't mean the feeling is mutual.
– Know what you need? Attitude friend, you have charisma, you just need courage.
– You know that's not all. – Place your hand over the device on his chest.
– I don't have full confidence about my language skills, I'm still learning to speak correctly and I need this device that corrects my speech, I don't want to depend on it to talk to her. - Says the prince a little nervous about it.
– You'll never know if you don't try, and you better hurry, we never know what might happen soon.
– I-I… okay, I'll give a try.
– That's the spirit. – Drake smiles while encouraging his friend.
– Oh damn, she's right there. – Dragon points down right in front of them.
– So this is where we say goodbye, good luck with her, tomorrow we talk. – Waves while saying goodbye, flying to another direction.
The prince takes a deep breath and descends towards the ground landing a little behind his friend, Dragon approaches her from the left arriving by surprise and waves smiling at her.
– Hi Drina, what are you doing around here? – Asks the curious young dragon.
– Hey! I'm just taking a walk and getting some fresh air, how about you? Fell out of bed? – Drina laughs gracefully.
– Noooo, I didn't fall out of bed, by the way, did you come over to look for me earlier?
– No, why? – Tilt her head to the side.
– Wait… wasn't it? So… – The prince thinks for a while and realizes that he has been tricked.
– You're acting weird, something happened?
– Not exactly, let's say I was given the wrong information, but nothing important. "I'm going to kill that slut!" – He pretends to be fine, but he's nervous inside.
– If you're free I'd love your company today, I'm free all day and all night, my friends are all busy.
– I have nothing scheduled today. "It's today that my master kills me for missing training again."
– Is there somewhere more private you'd like to go? There are a lot of people here, it would be nice to have a place to talk alone. - He smiled looking at the prince.
– Well… I don't know any good places. - Says the prince feeling nervous.
Drina throws herself on her friend, leaning on his body, she smiles and looks into his eyes with a different look as she puts her right paw on his chest.
– I would love to have more privacy so you can be yourself. – Says Drina with a passionate look.
The prince was paralyzed for a moment not knowing how to react, this escalated too fast for him, but he understands what she means, he is happy to know that she cares about him enough to understand the insecurity he has about his difficulty in socializing in this world that is new to him.
– I-I would love to know more about this world, can you be my guide? – He asks breathlessly, his breath quickens and his heart beats faster.
– Your heart rate suddenly increased, is everything okay? - Says the young dragon feeling the heartbeats in her hand.
– Well… interesting, right?… – Avoid looking into her eyes.
– No need to hide the obvious from me. – Drina rubs her head under the prince's chin showing affection in public.
– Am I that obvious? – Asks the happy and relieved prince.
– Just a little bit, like this. – Shows the fingers well spaced.
– That's not a little bit, I can fit my arm there.
– Details… but about your question, yes, I would love to show you more of this world where you were born.
– Really? Thanks, but can we meet soon? I need to do something real quick. – Says the prince a little nervous.
– I was going to suggest the same thing.
– Perfect, can it be in an hour? – Asks the prince wagging his tail excitedly.
– Yes, after all I want to get prepared in case I'm going to spend the whole day out.
– So we meet in an hour.
– I'll stop by your house, see you in a little while.
– … – Dragon stares Drina.
– … – Drina stares back.
– We forgot that we live on the same block...
– Yeah.... – Say Drina laughing.
– In that case, let's go together. – Turns around very excited.
They head back to their homes, Dragon gets ready as he can and removes the communicative aid device from his chest placing it on the desk in his room, he feels nervous about leaving that behind, but he wants Drina hears his words naturally, not through a device that will access his brain to correct the sentences before they come out.
An hour later the prince leaves through the main gate of the imperial residence and finds Drina already waiting for him, she wears a blue bow on her left horn, it matches her colors.
– Ready? – Asks the young girl excitedly.
– Ready, where are we going? – Speaks anxiously.
– I know a nice place outside of town.
– Sounds like a good idea, I hardly ever go out of town. – He smiled happily.
– I see you took the device off your chest, have you been practicing our language? - She points to the prince's chest.
– Yeah… I'm practicing during my free time. – He lowers his head as he speaks.
– Don't worry, you're doing fine.
– Thanks. – Dragon answers comforted.
– Let’s go, just follow me.
The young female lead the way and Dragon follows just behind her, it’s safer to leave by the northern gate, but they don't necessarily need to go through the gates, as residents they can pass through the energy fields that protect the city from invaders or spies, the princie is strong enough to protect them from any danger lurking outside. The two leave the city by the northeast heading towards the valley of the giants, three hours away from the city by foot, a place rich in fauna and flora, rivers and lakes as huge as the ocean, colossal mountains that look like a stairway to the stars, trees so large that they form a natural mantle above the ground hiding all the light that reaches the region, the natural habitat of many nocturnal animals and birds that nest in the treetops.
It's a beautiful place during the day, but the real magic happens in the dark with luminous plants like fungi and mushrooms, in addition to mystical animals that glow in the dark, it's a natural light show.
Drina takes the lead, the two talk about life on the way to the valley, she seems curious to know what kind of life he had on Earth living as a human, Dragon doesn't hide anything about his past, despite missing some of the friends he made there he is much happier here in Draconio.
The two go down to the river, staying about a meter above the water level, Dragon extends his arm and feels the water flowing between his fingers, a clear and crystalline water, he closes his eyes and just enjoys the moment, the prince feels free and content, evident by his subtle smile which is noticed by the female flying beside him who just watches her future mate with a graceful smile.
– This place is amazing Drina. – The prince opens his eyes and turns his face to the left.
– I know, that's why I loved coming here in my childhood.
– You know, when I came here and saw this world for the first time, that huge city, the dragons, the magic, I was blown away, it felt like a dream, I finally felt at home.
– Weren't you happy on Earth as a human? – Asks the curious young dragon.
– Partly, I felt like there was something about me that didn't quite fit that place.
– Well but now you're here, you're free to be who you really are.
– … freedom… I think that word doesn't suit me very much… – Dragon lowers his head with a dismayed look.
– Your world is upside down with everything that is happening, right?
– I kind of like the idea of having magical abilities and all, but being a guardian took away all the freedom I thought I would have in life, my purpose is to serve as the sword for the dragonkind, a living weapon.
– Nothing stops you from being happy in your way. – Drina approaches the prince.
– Er… I think so… are we going to be flying around here all the time or are we going somewhere?
– We're almost there, follow me.
The young female dragon leads the way and the prince follows close behind, she seems anxious about something. The two friends turn to the east and enter the forests of giant trees. The place is very dark, Dragon almost loses sight of her several times and even though he asks her to go slow Drina keeps going fast, it seems she is even having fun by doing that.
Suddenly she stops in the middle of nowhere and the young male dragon opens his wings right next to her, stopping a little ahead. There are several luminous plants around allowing them to see each other. Drina walks around in circles around the prince, she looks at him with a smile and approaches him strangely.
– What, do I look funny? – Asks the confused prince.
– There's something under you that I want, a fruit that I used to eat a lot in my childhood, just take a step back and be careful not to step on it.
– Ah, I hadn't seen it, everything here shines the same way. – The prince looks down and sees a bright blue plant.
The prince takes a few steps back and observes the young female dragon approaching and taking the fruit, it looks like a bright blue heart, it's even pretty to look at, it's about the size of an avocado. Drina takes the fruit with both hands and shows it to him.
– This fruit is called the beating heart fruit, watch how the light shines as if they were pulses of energy, it even resembles a beating heart, hence the name.
– Interesting, but is this even edible? I don't know, I've never eaten anything that glowed before, it reminds me of radioactivity. – He looks at the fruit with great curiosity, almost touching it with his index finger.
– Oh yes, these plants emit radioactivity.
– Emit what? Isn't that dangerous? – Step back concerned.
– Not for us, most radiation does not affect us, of course that a very high level and long exposure are bad, our bodies are extremely adapted to survive in any type of environment and even exposed for a long time our body is able to eliminate the radiation naturally if we stay away from the source, in extreme cases a treatment solves it, that's why we have the largest population in the universe, even nature has a hard time to kill us.
– But is it safe to eat? – Asks the worried young dragon.
– It is, when I came here I used to eat a lot of these fruits, you find a lot in stores and it's used in cooking, I've never seen anyone get sick even in the long term eating these types of fruits. – Drina breaks the fruit in half and offers one half to the prince.
– Here, take a piece.
– It's cool, as they say on Earth, if it doesn’t kill it makes you stronger. – Take the fruit with both hands, being careful not to drop it.
He puts the whole piece in his mouth and starts to chew, he tastes it, tastes it and swallows it, his eyes sparkle as if he has discovered the tastiest thing in the universe.
– So, did you like it? – Asks Drina curiously.
– It tastes like blackberries, and I love blackberries! – Says the nostalgic prince.
– I don't know what this is, but it must be good.
– It's a fruit you can find on Earth, I ate a lot too.
– Well, so what are we waiting for? Let's find some more.
The couple spends almost an hour picking fruits and eating together, it becomes almost a competition of who can find the most, an easy task because they shine and everything is dark, well, it would be easier if the rest of the plants didn't shine either, but the format it is unique and easy to discern.
After filling their belly, the two lie on the floor next to each other, watching the glowing animals that float above them. It's a really magical place, Drina approaches her head and licks his neck, turning her body sideways. and placing his paw over the prince's chest, the young male dragon is a little embarrassed, but does not complain.
– There's another place close by that would be nice for us to go. – Says Drina excitedly.
– Have more fruits there? – Asks in a sarcastic tone.
– It depends, if the weather is good, there are some fruit bushes there, but if it has a lot of snow we won't even be able to see the bushes.
– Snow? I didn't know it snowed on this planet, it's very hot around here.
– It's in the mountains, it's so high up there that it gets really cold and ends up snowing, come with me and you'll see. – Get up quickly.
The young dragon takes flight and the prince hurries not to be left behind and lose sight of her, the two fly close to the ground taking advantage of the luminescence of nature to see better, just after a few minutes they are already out of the giant forest, there are trees of normal size outside, but the destination is still far away, Drina follows the course towards the colossal mountains. Nothing like a tour in nature to forget about his duties, on the way the two talk about exactly that.
– What would you do if you weren't one of the eight guardians? – Asks Drina.
– This is an interesting question, I haven't thought about it, but I think I would want to study and learn more about magic, maybe participate in tournaments or go professional.
– Isn't that basically what you're going to do as a guardian? – Asks with a confused look.
– There's a difference between doing what you like in a forced way and doing what you like because you enjoy doing it, I didn't have the right to choose, it was decided for me and the weight of being a guardian is too big, no one would be asking me to be strong if I wasn't, I would train at my pace.
– Make sense, at least you have a good master, he is a very strict master? Yes, but he is the best among all the great masters.
– And you? Do you have any plans? – Dragon asks looking at Drina.
– I'm still thinking, I would like to pursue a military career like my father, but I don't like battles very much, so I would choose to learn healing and support magic to assist the soldiers.
– I’m surprised, really, I didn't know you liked that, by the way who is your father? You must admire him a lot to follow in his career.
– Well… another time I'll tell you. – Avoid talking about that on purpose.
– We're getting to the base of the mountain, things will start to get cold when we get up there so get ready. – Says the young female dragon.
The dragon couple starts the climb through the air, the landscape is magnificent, from a certain height it is possible to see the entire lake and almost the entire giant forest. The prince looks up and still cannot see the summit of the mountain, according to the official information about it the maximum height the mountain reaches is approximately fifteen thousand meters high, and this is by far the tallest mountain in Draconium. The highest mountain on the planet is called the "Horns of the World", two gigantic mountains that are side by side that exceed the height of fifty thousand meters, its highest point measures approximately fifty-two thousand meters.
The temperature starts to drop drastically up there, as it is a very hot planet during this time they will only find snow near the top, luckily the oxygen levels are acceptable up there. As they ascend on foot, Dragon sees the first snowflakes of his life, he marvels at it.
– Be careful from here on out, the floor will be slippery. – Alert Drina pointing to the top of the mountain.
They continue to climb until they reach a place full of snow, the prince's eyes twinkle at that view, Drina runs in front of him and starts jumping in the soft snow, Dragon joins in the game and has fun beside her like two children until he is caught off guard getting hit by a snowball in the face while he was distracted.
– Hey! – Stares at Drina with a face messy with snow.
– What? I did nothing. – Laughs while preparing another snowball.
The two start a snowball war, Drina knows some tricks and decides to use one of them, she spreads her wings as much as she can and beats them with all her strength pushing a lot of snow on top of the prince, he is forced to cover his eyes turning his face away and protecting himself with his wing, when he uncovers his eyes he no longer sees her in front of him.
– Drina! – Call it out loud.
The prince calls her several times but no sign of her, he starts to get worried and screams her name in desperation, suddenly two hands appear from under the snow grabbing his neck.
– Ha, got you!
Drina who was hiding under the fluffy snow had prepared a trap and pulled the prince down with her, both are now under the snowdrift.
– Aaaah… Hey! You scared me! - He says with an angry face.
– What? Did you make a hole down here? – Asks the intrigued prince.
– It's something I learned to do while playing hide and seek with my brothers, I don't know if you know but I have two natural elements, fire and ice.
– Ah, your mother's family comes from Frozaria isn't it? Ice Dragons.
– Exactly, my father is a fire dragon, so I ended up inheriting both elements and I can even mix creating a cold flame. – Drina replies as she gestures with her hands.
– Interesting, but you know what's cold? My ass up there.
– I only pulled half of your body down here. – Give a little laugh.
– Don’t laugh, it’s not your ass freezing up there.
– Aaaah come on, that’s funny. – Drina laughs gracefully.
The two stare at each other for a moment, a momentary silence that is worth a thousand words. In fact, words are not necessary to describe what both are feeling right now.
– Time to get out of the snow cave. – Drina starts digging up.
– Wait! – Dragon holds her with both hands.
– What, why? – Asks Drina curiously.
– I'm in a pretty awkward pose up there, let me out first. - Looks away and starts moving trying to get out.
– Now I want to see that, see you up there! – Drina forced her head out from the snow cave.
– What? Wait! Not yet! – Almost begs for shame of the pose he is in.
– Oooh? How cute, you had to see this pose, it would be a shame if someone slapped that frozen ass, wouldn't it? – Says the young female dragon watching the prince from above.
– What? Stop looking, and don't slap! – He goes into despair and embarrassment, moving his legs and trying to get out from under the snow.
– You're not helping by wiggling like that. – She laugh.
– Instead of laughing, you could help me get out of here. – Says the prince with a grumpy tone.
– Nah, I have a better idea. – Exclaims her enjoying the scene and approaching him.
– Wait! Hey… hey hey hey! What are you doing there? That's not your hand, neither a slap! Aaaaah…!
Half an hour later they go down the mountain, Drina drinks water straight from the lake while Dragon keeps an eye on her, he doesn't seem very happy, or at least that's what he tries to show, in the purest of his intentions he has his heart beating very hard and feeling an intense heat.
– Aaaaaah… done, we can go. - Says Drina satisfied.
– Wow, what's that face? It looks like someone bit you. – Looks scared to the prince.
– Say that to the teeth marks on my ass. – He crossed his arms and glared at her.
– Says they are war scars. - She approaches him and snuggles under the prince's chin.
– Okay, it was funny, but you didn't have to keep me stuck in that hole. – He's still grumpy, but melting inside.
– It wouldn't be fun to bite someone who can run. – She wink to him.
– Alright… you’re crazy, but I still like you. – He smiled looking at her.
Dragon and Drina stay by the lake for a while, sitting next to each other while enjoying the scenery, the sun is already low, almost setting over the water, it's a beautiful sight.
– Hey Drina…thanks. – He says in a soft tone looking at the sunset.
Even without saying why he thank her, she understands well what he means, for Dragon it is very difficult to make true friendships in this world that is new to him, besides everything he is a prince and a guardian, two things that attract the attention of all in different ways, except the genuine intention of friendship, Drina being of the royal caste and having the father she has knows a little of that that life.
– Time to go back, it's going to be dark soon and my father is kind of complicated to deal with. – Looks to the prince with a passionate look.
– Yeah, it was fun, I'd love to spend more time here with you. – He looks straight into her eyes, returning the same look.
– Weren't you mad about the bite just now? – Says Drina with a huge smile and sarcasm tone.
– Well, as they say, if you can't fight them, join them. – He fixed his gaze on her holding her with both hands.
– Why do I feel like I'm going to get bitten? – Asks Drina confused.
They roll on the floor trading bites and tickling each other, but there was no time left to take a step forward, Drina really feared that her father would get very angry if she took too long to get home, so the two decide that it is time to go back. The couple of young dragons follow their way back to the city, the night arrives just before they enter the capital, it was hard to say goodbye and go to different directions, their hearts beat hard in the farewell, it is inevitable that the two will be together at the end of the story, or maybe it's just the beginning.
This story will tell a little about Dragon's journey discovering more about the world in which he was born alongside his future partner Drina, it will also have the participation of his friend Drake, brother Draco, his sister Dragonita and his parents Dracanos and Dragiana plus mentions of other characters that will not appear in the story.
The story is also canon and going to be split in three parts, one to tell about Dragon's relationships, one to tell more about Drake's secret life, and one to tell more about Dragonita as a princess anf future queen. By the way, the names may be weird, but it's because of the lore, hard to explain. Enjoy.
