An official first for me. A friend of mine was throwing out his dad's old and busted Vox guitar. So instead of leaving it in the trash I took it home with me in an attempt to turn it into a new art project. Despite the picture stating 3 days, it took well over a month as there was alotta cleaning and rust removal to take care of first. The days listed just included painting. Not to mention days letting the paint dry.
Day 1: Started off with a glossy spray paint mostly all around. Never spray painted before so this was fun. Had little to no issues except for a couple of noticeable pain runnings. Let it dry completely for a full day just to be safe.
Day 2: Since it's been a very long time since I've painted, I went out and bought the cheapest paint I could find at Joann. Big mistake! This paint was absolute shit. Not only did it look streaky and bad, it didn't even stay the same color! It was suppose to be neon hot pink, but instead it turned into a weird magenta color after it dried. The cherry blossom in the left corner however turned out great. I also bought paint markers and paint markers are freaking awesome!
Day 3: So because I didn't like the lightish red color the hot pink paint turned into, I made the even worse decision to paint over it with purple and well.... I kinda wish I just left it, because now it's just mauve. Which is one of the ugliest colors mankind has ever created. It doesn't even feel good to say. MAUVE. So to make lemons into lemonade I just went batshit on the faceplate. I didn't even really know what I was going for but I'd say it was decent for a first attempt. Also kinda hard to tell, but I also bought spools of pink and purple wire to act as the guitar strings. They look really sweet under the right light.
Notes for next time: NEVER EVER EVER buy cheap paint. Go for Liquitex higher quality stuff in the future. Also try to spray paint as much as I can. I originally wanted to spray paint the faceplate, but the screws were rusted and stripped. Finally, do more paint marker projects. Paint markers kick ass just so long as you don't need to erase.
Credit where credit is due; I didn't draw a single titty or butt on the entire guitar! Put THAT in yer pipe and smoke it! Gonna try to sell it at our next art market. Fat chance of it selling but if not I'm gonna hang it up on my wall somehow.
