This's the monster that's been taking up so much of my time lately ;) For the wonderfully patient
Whitefanggreytail and friends. There are 15 characters total. I just recently finished the three chakats. . . I'd say they definitely took the lion's share of time (har har).
Obviously, still a LOT that needs to get done, but I'm hoping to *finally* finish it, this week. A few characters need hair, the clothing needs some touchups, and there's still some foreground elements, as well as five characters left to color. . . but at least all the linework's done, now.
This is mostly an update for the commissioner, but y'all seem to like WIPs, so I figured I'd post it. Also, there are a LOT of people in this piece, so. . . this is a convenient forum for y'all to take a peek.

Oh yeah, I remember this piece. Well, at least it's coming along. 15 characters is quite a bit, especially getting them all in the scene in a logical manner. One thing that catches my eye is that your taurs/chakats seem to have a bit thinner bodies than those I usually see on FA. Not saying it's wrong, just different, as most I see are all around thicker in the lower torso area. The tiger seems just a bit too thin to me, being large cats, but that just might be an optical illusion because she's running, and a cat stretched out in full stride looks thinner. But everyone looks good so far.
One question though. The person in the upper right can only be seen from the waist up. Is that grass really tall back there?

To quote Bob Ross: All right, we are going to use a fan brush here and uh why don't you take some hunter green and we are going to put a happy little bush right down over here in the corner there and that'll just be our little secret and if you tell anyone that that bush is there I will come to your house and I will cut you.
Personally, I favor what this artist has done with the taur/chakat bodies. Most of the abdominal cavity in any mammal, us included, is taken up by the intestinal tract. A taur/chakat would only require one intestinal tract, but has two abdominal cavities, therefore natural design would have them be rather thin in comparison to normal large cats, allowing them to be lighter and faster (albeit the mechanics involved and being so top heavy will combat that. Somewhat of a trade-off) People usually make chakats too fat in my opinion.
There's my two cents. Maybe like five cents. Meh.

I like this look as well. As you mentioned, they are anatomically closer to what they likely would look like in real life, which actually looks better to me. I'd just never really seen them rendered like that before, and I'm actually in favor of it.
Also speaking anatomically, most of the insides are likely to be found in the lower abdominal cavity. If too much were in the upper, center of gravity would be thrown off and plain moving could prove to be a pain as most of the weight would be on the front two legs. Heart and lungs would likely be up top, with most everything else being in the lower regions. Also, more might be in the rear point than usual, as the setup is normally front heavy, given the location of leg joints and upper torso. Then again, it's not like I'm a biology major, that's just my high school remembrance/knowledge on the subject of anatomy.
However, given the societal nature of most chakats, they have likely evolved a bit away from predatory needs, and so the needs of a predator may no longer be as strong in such builds. But, then again, we are trying to apply logic to fiction. Though fun to figure out the how of "what if", it's also not something to be taken too seriously.

This is amazing! I didn't know some chars were uncoloured until I read the initial post by Rukis and she said 15 chars so I had to go back and count 'em all ... twice before I saw the 4-some, and another couple mins before I saw the final one. haha Still, I had fun lookin' for them all :)
Lookin' forward to finalized piece tho!

This Might sound like a crazy cooky kinda critisism, but I think it's constructive so I'll let you hear it. On the bench there is the male white canine fellow in blue. Down along his right side (Right from our perspective, not his.) I think there is slightly too much black shading / shadow on the bench. It makes it appear as if the white canine's back is hovering just an inch or so off of the bench, instead of resting on it. This makes his positioning seem slightly awkward to the backround. Maybe my eyes are crazy, but it's something I noticed. Anyone else?
