The only really decent pic I was able to get of the latest armour commission I have made.
Its another corazzina. Made up in aircraft aluminum this time.
The planishing process made the surfaces very slick and slippery- the duct tape would not stay stuck to the pieces while making the tape dummy. And every time I turned around, random bits would just fall off.
A process that normally can be done in well under an hour took over 7 hours to do.
I finally got the whole thing to stay together long enough to take a few hasty pics, and decided that was good enough.
So have a hasty, low quality pic of what turned out to be the most difficult version of a corazzina kit I have ever made.
No more aluminum.
If I ever make any more of these, they'll all be mild or stainless steel.

Planishing is the process of removing bulges and arks in sheet metal after dishing or bouging it out to form a rounded shape.
An English wheel is a tool that uses two steel wheels, above and below, to pinch metal run between them in order to flatten out the bulges, dimples and other irregular shapes and make a smooth, even surface.
It uses a screw gear to force the wheels together under spring tension.
In the process, the surface also gets flattened and stretched a bit.
This makes the surface very smooth and just a little polished.
On stainless or mild steel, this results in a surface thats just about ready to polish up on felt or cloth wheels.
On the aluminum, it wound up making a surface thats so smooth it almost feels oily.
I suspect its a property of the metal aluminum itself.
But it did result in a surface thats hard to hold onto with your bare hands and fingers.
