I was about to post that there must be a reason why artificial bodies created through their engineering wouldn't work either.
Then face slapped when I remembered the dragons don't have any 'biology' of their own so this wouldn't be their natural field, and mortals wouldn't yield much in-depth research since the dragons can't inhabit or bring a dead form back to life, or there wouldn't be this problem in the first place.
