Not empty so much as spare. I prefer a quite theme to an overly populated one myself, music can get rather busy without becoming better. So far so good!

There is that large pause at the 2 minute mark, it ended there fine then started up again. As a fan of ambient sound effects, a nice whistling winter wind could carry it, but this would take it into soundtrack mode vs. being an instrumental piece. I feel like I'm in the Arctic, trudging through a relentless gale that I have to push through or perish in. Out there, it's just you and the elements, a raging manmade soundscape would be offputting somehow unless you are Scott of the Antarctic. (Pardon the Monty Python ref!)
