Hi!
I am honestly not sure!
I looked at a bunch of world of warcraft staffs to see if i could take inspiration from many different design choices. My idea was what would a paint brush, a fountain pen and a staff would look like? The rainbow ball in the center holds every color that exist in the world. The star itself changes color to what is being used on the brush. Hints the reason why the star and paint are both orange at the moment.
Also, reason why there is so much orange because orange is my favorite color. <3
