Here's John and his mentor, Evans' ancestor, Aron. 1500 years ago, he was sent to locate a kidnapped noble but found her and another "noble", which was later found out to be a descendant of a bastard bloodline of the Original Royal Family. The Shadow, descendant of the First Lone Warrior did try and reveal the descendant of the noble but was rejected so he dropped her off with the Zhan Clan. Meanwhile, Aron and Petra, the outfit that Petra was forced to wear had a curse that made it impossible for her family to recognize her so Aron dropped her at a camp that's related to the Aura Kingdom Spies which he was the secret Spymaster of.

Though the two did grow fond of each other and eventually became a couple and had children, however I stated that there's a retcon. That's because before John became Grandmaster, the Mystics were corrupt and hid the history of the Mewtwos of Midlathios along with the Original Royal Family still living on. But the retcon is more of the Feron family, John's Mentor, Evans was his real father who became a Mystic to investigate the Mystics and their secrets. But during that time, he fell in love with a Mystic Gardevoir that later gave birth to John, to hide him, he had a family in the Oriental village adopt John. So John and Anna aren't biologically siblings.

That's pretty much the retcon, John is the son of Evans and the Feron family name comes from Evans.
