Restoration Magic - Practical Applications by Hiorou
A commission from
Hiorou of Arcten using magic to repair an old, broken car.
An excellent way for Arcten to save, and to make, money is to take old broken things, and use magic to restore them to mint condition. It is generally possible for Arcten to perform the restoration so long as enough of the original object remains to figure out what the thing was. Using a sort of psychometry, Arcten is able to determine what the past form and shape of the object was, and then apply magic to bring the object's form back in line with that past state. The more mass of the original object that is still present, the easier and less mana it takes to perform the spell. If something is totally obliterated (i.e. melted into a puddle), or so mixed in with unrelated things (shredded to pieces, and mixed with lots of other things that have been similarly shredded), restoration may not be possible. If there is significant mass missing, the spell takes less mana if the caster has an appropriate donor source of material (i.e. a mass of iron and carbon if a chunk of steel if missing) to be molded into shape rather than needing energy to create the material wholesale.
