In the summer time rumors tend to run wild like a forest fire though the halls of the asylum. Spring fever had come and gone and now the heat of the summer's sun was all to well felt in the courtyards of the Asylum. Luckily though its design and spirit kept the place as cool as a cucumber. It was on such a day that a lurking rumor was quelled by a new arrival to the asylum... The small puppy had simply wandered onto the asylum's doorstep. He'd had nothing to eat and even less to wear only a shirt and diaper that had seen much much better days. Ghost upon seeing the small puppy had Josephine take him to be washed and cleaned.
Josephine smiled and happily went to get the puppy who upon seeing the large plush come from what appeared to be no where tried to get away hissing and spitting as fiercely as he could. "Aww no need to worry puppy! I wont hurt you I promise!" Josephine said in her most soothing voice as she slowly closed in on the puppy. "Now whats your name sweety?" She asked the puppy who only replied by shaking his head. Being pushed back against a wall the puppy had no other place to run tears had started to well up in his eyes. Josephine crouched down a bit and gently put a plush paw out to wipe away the puppy's tears. "You must have a name sweety." The puppy squirmed a bit and meowed softly. "M..MacGyver." Josephine smiled and picked up MacGyver cuddling him warmly. "Well sweety your in good paws now!" With that the large plush took MacGyver to the nursery. The puppy's initial reaction was amazement he'd never seen such bright colors in one place before and the children he saw made him smile as they waved to him and greeted him. Some of the cubs in the room were preoccupied with toys and clay forming shapes and such to play with. Some were attempting to read books plucked from low laying shelf's where they had access to the worlds of distant minds from years before. A small number of children had dressed up in saggy baggy clothing in a game of house.
Josephine took MacGyver to the wash room and set him down on a table. "Now now lets get you out of those dirty old things!" She said in a bright tone as she turned on some water. She pulled the shirt and diaper off the squirmy puppy and smiled rubbing his belly some. He seemed to have calmed down considerably as he now lay purring on the table enjoying the attention he was receiving. As soon as the bath was drawn Josephine gently sat MacGyver down in the warm water and gently began to scrub him. One would expect any normal plush's paws to grow heavy and soggy with contact with water but Josephine's form was no normal plush there for as she bathed the puppy her paws remained warm and dry. MacGyver purred happily as he was washed by the big plush who took great care in washing him. After getting cleaned Josephine put MacGyver onto a fluffy towel which she promptly wrapped him in and dried him to a giggly fluffball shape.
"Hehe all cwean!" he squeaked as he poked his head out from under the towel. Josephine smiled and nodded as she took the towel off and laid him down. "Now keep still sweety while Nanny Josephine gets ya into some nice new clothing!" MacGyver nodded and stayed still purring and wiggling his tail a bit as he waited. Josephine got the puppy snuggly fitted into a warm cloth diaper which she covered with a soft cushions cover. After sitting him up she put a new shirt onto MacGyver that had a rocket design on its front. "Fankies bewy much Nanny!" MacGyver chirped sweetly as he hugged the big plush tightly purring contently.
After a few hours of playing with the other cubs and children lunch time had come and belly's were rumbling and grumbling for food. Josephine giggled a bit and handed out the snacks making sure to help some of the younger cubs including MacGyver who was licking at the contents of his apple sauce. An older cub noticed MacGyver's struggles and giggled softly helping to feed the puppy. MacGyver giggled softly and licked some of the remaining apple sauce from his whiskers and trotted over to play with the other cubs that'd already finished their lunchtime snacks. "What ya pwayin?" he asked curiously to which a round lookin white bear cub chimed up. "Pwayin bwocks!" MacGyver plopped down and smiled stacking up blocks till the cub's had built themselfs a stern city. MacGyver and the young bear cub, among a few of the adult babyfurs who made the whole city shake and rattle at their earnest attempts to play with the others, took to rolling their small tin cars between the cities buildings on the imaginary roads set out by the small engineers. The two cubs grew to fast friends over the small time that they played cars inside their small but sturdily constructed city scape of blocks and other shaped blocks. After a while of playing both the cubs and adult babyfurs had retired to their cots some nestled in among several warm plushes even a few snuggled up close to the now dormant plush nurse & nanny Josephine.
MacGyver had a good nap which he woke up from next to the white bear cub. Josephine smiled and picked both of the cubs up and took them into Ghost's office to be fed. MacGyver gazed in amazement at the high vaulted ceiling each had an arched cross that formed a wooden X in the center of the ceiling. A lighted lantern hung from the carefully placed iron hook that was in the center of each X on the ceiling. The light flowed down the walls that were lined with shelf's each containing a load of different books from different time periods the earliest from these where from Pre Revolutionary times and some further into the pilgrim days. MacGyver wasn't able to read but the brilliant colors of the spines of the books made him smile. He was set down in a seat with a table that came down over his head and kept him safe from falling out. The white cub was in a similar chair both were ready for feeding. MacGyver purred happily as he saw the food come out in the small yet familiar jars and he clapped happily bouncing a bit. "OK well it is guests first so MacGyver gets the first spoonful then you'll get yours Ghost." The name caused pause in MacGyver's celebration for a moment before he looked over and smiled. "Heeheee Ghost!" He smiled finally knowing the small cubs name though the thought hadn't bothered him before. Ghost smiled and giggled a bit as MacGyver ate the bright orange carrot mush off the spoon as he was fed by Josephine.
Ghost watched the cub eat almost as though he'd been waiting his whole life to eat at this point. "Hehe welcome to the asywum!" The carefully constructed statement came slow but steadily from Ghost's maw as he was diligently fed by Josephine after MacGyver had had his fill. After a while of play both of the cubs were cleaned and changed into fresh diapers then put into their night time clothes and after a small request from Ghost they were both put in a crib that had been brought into the office space. MacGyver squealed in delight happy to have made new friends and have such a comfy bed along with people who cared for him! The puppy purred happily as he curled up next to Ghost who was already soundly asleep and fell asleep himself.
The Asylum had gained a new soul to care for and Ghost would see to it that the puppy felt secure in the Asylum as he lived on in his house. The rumors that had started in the summer soon sizzled out as Ghost resumed his place among the adults of the Asylum a cold can only last so long....
